This is class ha, he turned down Scott cardle the weekend after his fight with Ryan Walsh as he had just done 10 rounds and they wanted it at light welter. Same with Scott Harrison they wanted light welter, that's the two I know of. You believe his ex management, who would come to dundee when he was undefeated and fight for buttons? Be realistic please. He's never fought on a big card so there was no budget. He agreed to fight Liam Walsh, the best at his weight but broke both his hands, your argument has no substance. As for ticket sales that's hilarious, he's one of the small hall biggest ticket sellers in Scotland, he sold 210 in Edinburgh, Lewis benson sells 250 and he's MGM biggest seller in his Hometown. He also sells well over a 100 in Aberdeen for tune up fights, again ask Davie mcallister there his shoos. Over 100 on Motherwell for a exhibition with Eddie Doyle, ask Paul graham, over 400 on his first show in dundee. I do his sales I know. Don't talk nonsense please. He may not be Muhammad Ali but he will fight anyone and e will take a fan base with him, go ask Barry mcguigan who sold majority of tickets in Edinburgh on Twitter and see what the answer is. Clown

Beat up, it's a fight you clown, as Iv said anyone he has fought is easy to speak too, there is an interview with Ryan Walsh who said he felt as if he was fighting for his life in his fight, cacace saying he's hardest hitter he's been in ring with, maxi Hughes all over place, Billy Nelson can back me up there. Craig Evans got beat up, has anyone who has lurked around the top 10 for almost 3 years fought as many top 10 fighters as ronnie, he has 3 defeats on record which isn't a journeyman, see instead of jealousy try pushing others in Scotland to be more like it. In his first 8 fights he fought two undefeated fighters. Never happens. And he can sell tickets to go with it cause he refuses to rip his fans off, he gives them good fights. Unless your name is Ricky burns there is nobody else in Glasgow barring John Simpson who has the mentality.

Why do so many threads about Ricky Burns end up with some fella trying to promote his brother? Weird. If he was that good he'd have his own thread. :patsch

Tommy gilmour promotes him, I didn't mention him Iv came on to all the comments. He is a nice lad who lives to fight and for people who are hiding behind fake names to insult him is laughable, two insults he's ducked fights, look at his record ha, and he doesn't sell tickets ask any promoter who has had him on. Simple and easy way

He got stopped billy, he wasn't winning the fight and went for a ko, it happens. Cacace is a good fighter and in my opinion he will win the British, Ronnie won't go back down and start knocking out journeymen again, he's passed his apprentiship and wants to keep learning and pushing on and testing himself against good fighters, not many can say that, he's game as they come, Tommy Edwards 3-0 ronnie took that fight on days notice and stopped him, maxi Hughes he took on 3 days notice, Ryan Walsh 2 weeks notice. Evans about 2 weeks notice, he isn't type of guy to say no. If all boxers had that mentality then boxing would be great. As Iv said he ain't no world beater in boxing but he's done it all in kickboxing, a bit like kris carslaw , kris had a good amateur boxing career etc but unfortunately he's came up short in his meaningful fights, is he a bad fighter? No he's very good. Just boxing is a hard game, Scottish fighters unless signed with a big promotors do not have money to splash around on camps and sparring.

hahaha Billy, his last fight was one on 5 days notice to help the show out, the only reason that Yordan managed to throw 3 punches was that he was hurt by the 1st punch Ronnie landed and he wasn't allowed to get into the fight.

What kind of fight would you want Ronnie to come back against after the Cacace fight?

Ronnie genuinely does want to fight the best and nothing else but Billy you have been involved in the professional game and know it isn't as easy as wanting the fights, just as I'm sure you have wanted better opponents for you fighters over the years but they sometimes just can't be made due to managers/ promoters or the boxers don't fancy it.

I would have as many fighters as I could handle with the attitude Ronnie has to boxing.

Spot on Davie, he took the fight to help out with Gary Cornish pull out and get some money in at same time, he threw 3 punches but end of day ronnie still had to finish the fight. Ronnie is capable of so much more and anyone who has seen him in the gym and knows him knows what he puts in. He's willing to give anyone rounds, I remember being through at MGM workout at lochend and Terry McCormack shouting over that ronnie would go in ring with everyone there, joking of course but Ronnie genuonly would. He just loves learning and being in there. You obviously rated him aswell billy or you guys wouldn't have used him as a sparring partner leading up into a world title fight . Just think that it's jealousy to an extent that he shows more ***** than most fighters. They can only wish to have the minerals to do it

So all these fights at short notice ..... is that not either terrible promotion and terrible management?

That's journeyman stuff right there, I'm not saying he is but surely if he wants to make a name for himself he needs to be getting fights scheduled properly and getting in a decent camp.

I really don't think you understand boxing and the way it works mate tbh,

    1. Ronnie isn't a journeyman, he takes fights at short notice against these guys because he wants to be in the ring with them and fight the best.

    2. Ronnie is always in good shape, he lives and breaths boxing and is never out of the gym, hence why he has always been right in these fights even at that notice!

    3. It is easy saying your management isn't getting you a scheduled fight but the fights he has taken have only happened because he is willing to travel for them. I have been involved in trying to get opponents to travel to Aberdeen for him and even when we offer good money the have point blank refused to travel but have said they will take bouts in their home town. So what else can we do?

    4. Getting the sponsors and money to have a proper training camp isn't easy unless you are at British level or above, I would love for my fighters to be able to give up work for a camp but with the money on offer at the lower levels it just isn't possible.

I would like to think that people who want to fight the best and not hide behind fighting the usual rubbish their whole careers would get applauded but like always people find a reason to complain.

How can he do right in peoples eyes?

If he fights journeyman he would be classed as a bum

if he takes dangerous fights and is competitive but loses or draws on their home shows he is a journeyman bum!!

He takes the fight with Cacace and is losing on points, he goes for the KO and gets caught and all of a sudden he got massacred.

When do people ever start giving fighters credit instead of sniping all the time?

Is that the same Terry McCormack who has told Ronnie that he's not welcome back to the gym?

Your right mate regarding the sniping part.

It's the way scottish people generally are though, negativity reigns, championing the underdog all the time etc. It's actually why we are pish at everything, I moved away working for a while and when u returned I realised how much most people from this part of the world are horrible, depressing and negative ****ers lol.
