Aged 38. Didn’t even realise it until I was listening to a football radio phone in and some guy mentioned it.

Pointless, guy should just call it a day ffs. Can’t imagine he’s getting much money for this.

He's had a very good career, and He loves boxing, and wants to carry on, it happens. Danny Williams just fought again last week he's 48

Burns always had a great chin, and good defence, probably still got enough about him to expose some prospects at british and euro level.

If he retired after the Beltran fight when his career basically ended with a broken jaw, he would have retired with the CV of a legend that even @Mitch87 would have struggled to rip apart.

I did find it sad watching him fight since Beltran - lucky if 40% of the fighter was left after that fight and injury.

I actually thought he had good fights with Omar Figueroa Jr (who came in way overweight) and the referee thingy Cole in another disgraceful referring performance and his fight with Kiryl Relikh was very good too.

It was actually his fight with Figueroa that got big fights for him after, so good was his showing. Oh and he was expected to be a lamb to the slaughter for that fight, most people were expecting him to get knocked out.

That was his last renaissance though. He should of never lost to Dejan though, at the point he was still mentally shot with his jaw.

The period between Roman Martinez fight to the Beltran injury was his peak, he was an excellent fighter for those 3 or 4 years.

After that he was never the same, and became boring to watch.

I remember watching that Selby fight and thinking that both of these guys are done and a shadow of what they were, that was over two years ago. I maybe got it wrong with Selby who in my eyes and many others, especially after watching it back, beat Kambosos Jnr but Burns is done, an absolute credit to the sport though and if he can earn a few more pounds before he hangs them up I wouldn't begrudge him that.

A true tough as old boots fighter, especially in his prime.

Isn't he working with Scotlands boxing team now? I don't see him going for too much longer with that also in the background. Think he'll try look to get more big fight then call it a day if he loses.

Did extremely well to win a title at another weight after that.

a one dimensional fighter, with limited lateral movement, game, good and fortunate to get as far as he did...

a good kid, a good fighter, but hard to see him as anything more.

Sadly Boxing is made by Ownership and the Opportunity they secure you. I'd much rather see a Legacy of Deserving and True TOP Fighters, which too often, the Boxing Fans are denied.

I can’t believe he’s been a pro 20 years. He’s had a cracking run but time to call it a day.

That said I was at the O2 when he fought Selby and in the arena we thought burns had won. Admittedly I was sat with a load of Scottish fellas which may have influenced how I saw it.

Hopefully, Ricky Burns get's out of the sport with his health fully intact, he's had a phenomenal career and has vastly overachieved, but bad advice and losing the court case to Warren is pretty much the only reason why he is still fighting.
