His decision to run and not confront them, was probably because he'd lose his license if he hit one of them.

 

The American judges would have probably awarded that fight to the gang in fairness. They were more aggressive and looking to come forward for the whole fight. The counter-punching boxer didn't really hold the centre of the ring well enough.
