Ive seen big guys who know how to scrap, but on pure boxing skills, or in a 'boxing match' would fail as it is a specific skill, still they can throw a punch.

Again just go to the local boxing club and watch a handful of nobodies, fight, they can still fight somewhat...this isnt some geek infested world walking in the streets, there are some serious people.

Now because Ricky happens to hold a paper belt, he is now all of sudden expected to beat up groups of lads, or any bouncer, security guy unknown fighter that is over 200 pounds? It is totally unrealistic, especially considering the physical features of Ricky Burns.

Most of you probably dont know who Ray Sefo is, you reckon Ricky Burns could take this guy in the street? No chance...

Just because someone is famous in sport dosent mean they are some invincible creature especially Ricky Burns,...he did the right thing, he carried on, and hopefully he has a great 'boxing carrer' in the 'lightweight division'.


Its akin to saying L. Messi could take on a decent sunday football team by himself, the sunday team would destroy him...it just practical.

 

Thing is though the average ned probably has no average fighting experience and Ricky has probably got more beef than them

Perhaps, but again....if there a group of 5 or 6 lads, despite them being little skinny pricks, it can be worrying...burns has boxing on his mind, his family, friends, love, laughter....course he gonna run off...he isnt a ****ing street enforcer, and most likely could of ended up with a kick in. Who carers if he hits 2 of them, the other ****ing lot could have smashed his head with a plank of wood, or glassed him, knifed him.

People then start to post up a Turkish amateur heavyweight boxer fighting 4 old men who cant fight, as proof that Burns can knock out the group one by one...its crazy. Ricky seems a nice guy, then you have people talking about Jeff Fench, who we all know is a hard man on the streets, so was R. Duran...dosent mean A. Khan or R. Burns are..

Ricky if you read this site well done, bunch of tools, and you did the right thing...great luck on your career.

 

Im not talking pissed, talking decent set of players who werent good enough to be pro.....Messi against 11 lads who are decent? Its unrealistic.

Same with boxing being the magical wand that gets you out of trouble, whats wrong with the idea that Ricky was scared/worried a group of pricks are giving it, he has world title on his mind not street fighting.

Im just being practical and see what i see, again im sure someone is going to live in la la land, and tell me something different. Ive seen fights in Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, London....saw one in India and they are messy, horrible and scary for any sane people...the India one both groups were fighting with ****ing machetes...boxed, been in many gyms, trained in MMA and the world isnt some rosy situation where Ricky Burns could take on groups of lads, or smash any one up who isnt a pro boxing champ or big name.

Street fighting is fair, its brutal and bloody.

Now click on the 58 second point, Ahmet Oner a former heavyweight boxer who now promotes takes his jacket off and fights a groups of bouncers, some of these guys look to be 6'7, 6'8 yeah Ricky sorting those big men out for sure....

Burns would **** up the average man on the street because of his skill in terms of using his hands and avoiding punches, as well as his fighting experience but the harsh reality is that he's trained to fight in the ring according to certain rules. He's not trained to deal with multiple attackers with weapons, scumbags who think they have nothing to lose who would elbow, gouge, bite, and kick pieces off him while he's on the floor. Look what happened to Darren Barker.:-(

In Ricky Burns' case, the dude was outnumbered anyway. It's a nice thought, a boxer being able to blow away street thugs with his silky skills like a hollywood film but there are too many complications. These Neds could be soft ****s with no bite or they could be off their face on drugs willing to go to extreme lengths to hurt their man, they could be cunning little *******s with all the tricks and also armed with blades. How would he know what he's dealing with? He made the right choice IMO.

 

you said the little guys would'nt last on streets against big guys because there to small, I just used Jeff Fenech as a example of what has happened when Huge guy with a massive reputation picks on the little guy and then gets flattened with ease,

It says "kids" but I would assume they were late teens. anyway, wtf do you expect burns to do? fight a bunch of pathetic little pricks and possibly suffer an injury or worse? bottle broken over head, stabbed, cut.

I highly doubt he was "scared" as in "oh no the bad boys are gonna get me!" the mans a world champ, but hes not stupid. wtf does he have to prove by fighting them anyway? burns has bigger things on his plate and if he gets jumped by a gang with any kind of weapon, even bottles, that could lead to SERIOUS injury and **** up his career big time
