    Ricky Burns fighting Martinez, Paul Appleby on the bill, John Simpson on the bill...

    Massive credit & respect to Frank Warren, first & foremost. Scottish boxing has been pretty dead since Scotty Harrison went off the rails!

    Secondly, COME ON! Its the first scottish world title fight since Scotty Harrison hammered skinny Hussein, & it featured a guy I predicted would be a world champ here years ago, slickster Ricky Burns! & of course, I was slagged rotten for it. "Ricky Burns future champ Dunky? haha" & all that bull****.

    Now here he is though on the cusp of scottish greatness, just like I predicted. & sadly for the guys who slagged me off, I remember their names. Most I hear post on Boxrec nowadays, they ran away from me long ago, but I shall out them anyway for what they are should Ricky win;)

    This place is so anglo dominated nowadays that I hardly even post anymore, but thanks to Frank warren, the glory days could be heading back to Scotland at long last! To be honest I dont know where I am heading with this thread, do I need an ending?

    Let me just say this. Scottish boxing is back, Ricky Burns with a win over martinez would IMO immediately jump Scott Harrison & Alex Arthur in the ATG scottish boxers list, & Frank warren has promised young scottish protege Paul Appleby a shot at Ricky Burns should he beat Martinez...

    Theres much to be discussed here, especially if you are a scottish boxing fan! Its been a long time coming, but thanks to Frank Warren, we scots have something to talk about again!

    Burns, Appleby, Simpson, all fighting in big fights. All on one night.

    I like Burns glad he finally got this shot after waiting almost a year on it. Say what you want about Warren but i doubt any other promoter would of got Burns this shot.

    How do you rate his chances against Martinez Dunky?

    It's going to be an electric night in Glasgow in September. Definitley think Ricky has the style to pull off a win against Martinez, he'll have to box out of his skin though.

    Really hope Burns vs Appleby doesn't happen though, wouldn't like to see either man beaten.

    Burns is a bum who will embaress Scottish boxing even worse than it already has been by Scott Harrison, Burns got smashed up by Carl Johanneson, has no power and has been fighting dustmen and cleaners for the past 2 years.

    GTFOH with your pish. Burns has answered the power questions in recent fights and it simply wasn't Ricky in there that night against Johanson.

    Brilliant news!! If Burns has kept up the same level of improvement that he has shown in recent times then he has a very good chance. He will need to be smart though & study the Cook fight heavily. Cook didn't fight that badly and if he had calmed down, avoiding the brawl, he would have had a very decent chance of winning!!

    Anyhow, get fvcking in there!! Scottish rugby teams improving beating Argentina twice over there, Murrays looking good at wimbledon & we have a world title fight back up here..................................... just need the football team to get a grip (im not holding much hope out for that- at least clueless Burley has pissed off)

    Wierd aswell, i think that Appleby is our best prospect. It would be phenomenal if he got a world title in his early twenties- i think he is good enough!! :hi:
