    well thats good.

Watched some Matinez today, Im sure you will know this but I think hes very dangerous if you trade with him as hes an alright counter puncher and combination puncher and a big puncher.

i think rab took ricky as far as he could go domestic level billy nelson has made ricky burns a more complete fighter maybe its the sparring with better calibre fighters or billys betters planning but whatever ricky does in the martinez fight he will win a major title in boxing terms ricky is still quite young if he doesnt win this time maybe next look how many fighters didnt win the world title in there first shot the one thing we should all agree on is the improvement ricky has made under billys training

**** sake TD, next you will be telling me Shannon was good for Kevin Anderson...

See what I am getting at here? Rab Bannon may be the best thing since sliced bread for all I know, & hand the poor kids of Coatbridge sweeties out 5 days a week, but he was never going to take Ricky Burns to where he should be.

If I am to be hated by my fellow jocks for saying so? I dont mind, its alright. Its all about opinions, & IMO Rab & the Barn boys should get over themselves. Rabs in the huff cos Ricky left him, & the barn boys have been wishing Burns here rotten luck for ages cos of it. Now that Burns looks like hes got a world title shot? The Barn snipers are holding their fire.

I been posting here for years now, & I dont forget the nasty **** the barn boys have been posting about Burns in the recent past, THATS where I am coming from here.

Read the original post again, & you will see that I never once said I was sick of Rab Bannon.

As for the 'get a life' quote, I always laugh when a fellow ESB'er rolls that line out to me, its so ironic, dont you think;)

Look Mik. I know Rab is a father figure to you & all the barn boys, so I am never going to be able to to have a proper debate with you or any of the other barn boys who post here about Old Rab the crab.(or should that be Rab the crabbit cos hes got the petted lip about Burns;))

The way I look at it is Ricky Burns hit a glass ceiling at the Barn, & had to leave to progress to the 'next level' & he has done just that. When Burns left the Barn originally, I posted here saying it was the correct move, & so far, it has been to all intents and purposes.

So I think I am bang within my rights to say that Rab should 'get a grip' if hes still harbouring bad feelings about Ricky leaving his gym, doesnt the old guy want to see Burns fight for World titles for crying out loud?

As for the barn boys, they remind me of the Burnley fans spitting blood about Owen Coyle leaving them to go onto better things, when like The Barn with Burns, Burnley fans should be thanking Coyle for putting them on the map.

Damn, Im going to feel bad for saying this... but **** it I will say it anyway...
If it wasnt for Ricky Burns, who would be interested in the Barn & Rab Bannon on ESB?

    Exactly.

Rab Bannon & The Barn boys should be thankful to Ricky Burns for putting them, as I said just before, on the boxing map.

I'm not here to argue with you about wether or not Ricky moving gyms has been beneficial for him or not. What I'm saying is that you shouldn't accuse Rab Bannon of being bitter and saying that he "needs to get a grip" just because of what you've read from a couple of posters on here, which clearly doesn't tell the whole story about the way Rab has dealt with the situation.

And as for the "Bitter barn boys". I think I've read I've only seen 1 poster who appears to be from the Barn on here who has slagged Ricky, he doesn't speak for everyone else. Plenty of lads at the Barn are still in Ricky's support when he fights and think alot of the guy and I really don't know of any lads that hold a grudge against him.

In response to your last point - who cares if the Barn and Rab wouldn't be known on ESB if it wasn't for Ricky? The Barn has almost definetly won more Scottish amateur titles than any other club and has done so for nearly four generations, with Rab behind it all. He known by absolutely everyone in scottish amateur boxing and will be remembered long after he and the barn has gone, which is probably more than you can say for this boxing forum.
