Ricky Burns forced to fight for world title in Puerto Rico

Ricky deserves his shot after being messed about by mitchell.

 

dont get on to burns because he has been offered a great chance,

Why do people think Burns has a chance?

 

you tell me why you think he hasnt? the reason he has is he quick,good combination puncher,fantastic jab and is one one britans most improved boxers,good fighters just dont live south of the border mate :bbb

 

i dont think english/scottish had anything to bloody do with it.

he wanted doubting his ability. Burns has not fought anyone beyond domestic level, thats why his title shot is being questioned.

 

It's not Ricky's fault he's being offered a world title shot, I agree he's not fought any higher than domestic level but you have to move up and try sometime he's got a decent chance here, Ricky has a good chin along with excellent boxing skills. But I would bet my house on the fact that if Ricky was english the fight would be over here.

 

of coarse h doubting rickys ability when askin "what as he done to get a shot" thats implying hes not good enough is it not? numerous boxers have bypassed european level ect to grab a chance at world honours why would ricky be any different? think about it mate FFS!:bbb

 

if he doubted his abilitys he would of said something like "he has a **** defence". he is asking why has he got a shot when he has not beat anyone beyond domestic level. the truth is he has a good promoter, thats the only reason burns has got a title shot.

plenty of fighters have done it, and everytime it happens fans will moan about it, and quite rightly so.

If he was English I doubt anybody would question it Billy, you know how good Ricky is and I doubt you would allow this fight to go ahead if you felt Ricky couldnt handle it.

 

under no circumstances would i let ricky fight this guy if he never had more than a chance,ricky has been very loyal to frank warren and franks rewarded that with a world title shot,we have few enough world champions in the uk,so lets get behind the guy,lets face it fighters with much bigger reputations wouldnt fancy going to puerto rico to fight would they? no hassle for Ricky Burns:bbb

Aye it just so happens that every negative ****er saying Burns doesnt even deserve the chance to go into the lions den to win a world title just happens to come from that place south of Scotland.

& people wonder why the scots are paranoid here...

Man, its gonna be funny if/when ricky pulls of the shock win, cos if he does, he immediately goes into scottish boxing folklore as a true great, this win would put Ricky Burns up there with Ken Buchanan & Jim Watt, make no mistake.

 

I think Burns could win this and would be disappointed if he didn't. I like Burns and always have done. Martinez is a decent banger however Cook was dealing with him pretty well until he started trading, if Burns has the ability to hold Martinez off and not get dragged into a trade-off he has every chance (although I suspect he'll need to be very convincing over there)
