To be fair under Frank Burns has gone from a domestic level nobody to a world level belt holder. I'd say he's been one of the better managed FW fighters.

It is worth remembering that Ricky was drifting at commonwealth level before the title shot.
But they are not a happy camp(Ricky's team)
I've spoken to a couple people and I doubt there's any way back.

It's actually less likely now. I'll just copy and paste what I wrote elsewhere:

I'm not sure how I feel about this. It's good that he's getting himself out of a **** promotional situation, but it's also likely that he'll remain inactive while this whole mess is sorted out. And the chances of him fighting Broner are now pretty much dead. If he joins matchroom, it'll take a while for him to be fighting the best again. Hearn will begin rebuilding him on Sky - which means two or three mediocre opponents at least. By then the landscape of the lightweight division may have changed and those Vasquez and Broner fights may never come again.

And to add to that, it wasn't just Frank who was never keen on Broner. Burns' other handlers weren't, either. They too will happily bide their time and wait for Broner to move up. Broner-Burns is dead :deal.

I can't help feeling that Ricky would be a perfect signing for GBP's venture into the UK.
I think it's a real possibility. And by the way mate,I had a long chat with someone on Ricky's team. The whole point of Vasquez was to get them parity in a Broner fight, which makes sense when you think of how that could go if it didn't go Ricky's way, which is a real possibility.

the 2nd offer wasn't about weight.

it was about the fact that Burns wanted a 12 week camp, the date GBP offered meant he could only have a 7 week camp.

Burns likes to spar for 7/8 weeks.

I'm talking about when they were supposed to fight at 130

Again, Burns' manager said they would need a life changing amount of money to take they fight. They then asked for over $1 million, net of taxes. The fight then fell apart. Broner vs. Burns will never happen. Blaming Frank for the fight not happening is unfair in my opinion.

it wasn't about the money, that is what GBP stated and you have lapped it up.

it was about time to prepare - plain and simple.

Yeah but thats what ****** always does. He gets his fighters to a certain level then when the big money fights come along he wants to stall. Did it will Calzaghe and Hatton. Then threw Calzaghe under the bus calling him basically a coward. Seeing a pattern here

Yeah, totally, I understand that. But honestly, I've had the feeling that Burns' lot wouldn't be too upset if the Broner fight is never made.
