tbh Burns can fight whoever the **** he wants, man took on Roman Martinez and won, albeit in Glasgow.

I'm not gonna throw any **** his way because we all know he has his limits. Just be proud a Scottish fighter has gotten somewhere.

SECC much better arena, easier to get in and out of easier for transport and potentially holds far more the Breahead

What would the set up be like though? I was at one of the Braveheart promotions there when Limond fought Watson and that was just a small arena. Obviously they will be using the big one for the Burns fight but Theres only a tier at one side of that arena is there not? so would everyone else be on floor seating? Not really ideal IMO if it is.

I live just along the express way from the SECC so easier for me to get to which is a plus.

Also I wish people wouldn't give Ricky slack for poor opposition, it's not like he has a choice in the matter. Especially when Burns was coming up, even as a novice he proved himself to have the balls to take on experienced championship operators, in their own back yard. Are people forgetting this?

Hope Warren doesn't feed him poor opponents for long though as I'd hate to see Ricky who is a very popular fighter, become unpopular.

But he does have a choice in the matter.

Fair play to the guy he proves himslef in the past but if you can beat guys like Martinez why are you fighting Evenson and Laryea. They would have been good opponents for Ricky a year ago as a European title and Commonwealth defence.

He is a world champion, with that comes a duty to fighting world class opposition. Evenson and Laryea and not that.

I think another thing is the frustration from fans. Mzonke Fana would be for the lineal Ring title and its a winnable fight. Jason Litzau has got allot of press in the US recently and I honeslty reckon Burns would smash him to bits in 6 rounds.

Burns can be more than just a belt holder that hangs on to the title until a tough mandatory comes along.

If Burns beat Litzau and Fana this year he would be the true Champion and Number 1 in the division with a name in the US. It would put him in a great position when the likes of Juanma Lopez, Gamboa and Chris John move up as they would be chasing Burns and he could command a massive pay day.

You have to think if he is facing guys like Evanson and Laryea his team does not have much faith in him.

He does have the ability to request or reject fights though Mick, and whichever way you look at it this is a **** fight.

    Great post Rob.

I agree. Best of luck to Ricky but it is hard to let my heart warm to the lad while this level opposition is put in front of him.

I would still hope that everyone has huge respect for Burns but I think it is right of boxing fans to hope for and ask that he gets a better level of opposition.

Ricky has proven himself when he has stepped up and is a rightful world champion. I can also understand the Everson fight happeninf even if the opponent was really poor but Burns can have a good sized list of credible good opponents that are not going to just come in and bump him.

I think what he was trying to say is if he doesn't fight a unification or a tougher fight he will become unpopular.

You no most of us on here are behind you and Ricky we just know he can do better than he is fighting at the moment. Laryea is not acceptable for a world title fight.

 Did you not just read my post where I asked people to give Ricky some slack? Now you're asking me to give him a break?

And as for him not becoming unpopular, have u not read the posts in these threads about his opponent? He's getting hounded and not as popular as he once was on the Brit forum.

thats how it goes. He cannot accpect the plaudits for stepping it up before and not expect to get critics when he fights sub par opponents.
