You missed a good fight, by the end the two of them were spent and it was more a battle of wills. Every round swung one way then the other, Burns was always on top early then Martinez would kick into gear in the last minute or so really good watch. Was great to watch for anyone I'm not a big Burns fan but I had my heart in my mouth for most of it very tense fight.

You know what i 'd have bet my life Martinez was gonna school Ricky, But was pleasantly surprised, Burns was amazing , one of the best world title wins on British soil in the last 20 years.... and one of the best and most nailbiting fights i have seen period...

Great start to new season in the UK....

Well, I havent seen it but the score doesn't show a "schooling". Especially fighting in his backyard. Sounds like it was a great fight!!

Watch the fight, and look at the punch stats too, apart from the knockdown it really was a solid schooling, Martinez started to realise by the 10th he had nothing but haymakers to shoot back with... It was probably the kind of performance that Ricky probably could never duplicate in his career but he is still champ, he just raised his game by 200% for the big night.. quite extra ordinary...........

    Awesome performance by Ricky.
I doubt he will unify the belts but what a magical night it was.

Imo there should be a rematch. Great win for Ricky but it's sucks that twice in a row, Roman had to fight on the road. Kind of unfair for Rocky.

His promoters couldn't get it done for his backyard. The crowd gave him a "gid" Scottish welcome and Burns was on fire. :boxing2
Some hairy moments but Ricky landed all night and shocked us all!
