as i alluded to in previous posts , f r a nks matchmaking was key , kats was a weght drained shot fighter , who lost his next fight against a ghanian journeyman and then failed some kind of brain scan ... gonzales atm has achieved nothing , but he looked a million dollars against ricky for 7 rounds ...martinez is burns biggest win and i give him full credit for that , martinez is a genuine puncher ... nicky cook , laryea, evensen , and a 35 year old victor moses who scraped a sd against a journeyman in his next fight , there the level of rickys world titles , beltran beat him , and i dont believe hes top 5 either . time shall tell billy boi , i appreciate your posts , but hope your still as active this time next year
id love to see some of these 'critics' put a pair of gloves on and actually do things that people like Ricky burns have done. reality is they couldn't achieve a fraction.
Billy serious Question!! Did you get Kevin Mitchell in for sparring?? Him and Crawford have quite a similar style? I see why you got Campbell in as he has fast hands but lacks the power that Crawford has? As for Crawford sparring Bradley that won't do him much good for fighting Ricky Burns nothing alike in styles..
No your right nothing alike on styles but you got to admit not a bad person to get advice from , don't think there is anyone to touch Bradley at the moment imo
I thought Moses has beaten fana and boloyoi since his loss to Ricky, two ex champs IMO Moses would beat all the UK LW's based on his performance against Ricky
baloyi u mean ? cmon bill ur clutching at straws lol , sorry to sound like im having a dig , im a massiv ricky burns fan , hes a lovely guy and over achieved massively ... that said i cant change my opinion that hes done well to get where he is , talent wise hes miles behind . i agree with u about moses beating the other uk lw's though as i think crolla is the most over rated fighter ive ever seen ... but at 135 , theres gamboa ,shafikov , beltran, richard abril , omar figueroa , any of these guys beat or in beltrans case have beat ricky , thats not mentioning crawford whos yet to crack the top 5 and whos best win is against breidis prescott .... all about opinions a ?
Ive always loved the term over achieved, maybe realised his potential is a better term and far more complimentry towards the fighter who has worked very hard to accomplish what he has
agree the wording was maybe a little harsh , but i feel ricky was beat by alex arthur and carl jo coming up , and no way would you of said hed be a 2 weight world champ if he fulfills potential , give ur self a pat on the back billy son , uve done great to achieve what u have ! best of luck to both in the future , its only my opinion and for what its worth i hope im wrong as ricky seems a great guy .
If you watch the Arthur fight he gives Alex a very very hard fight. Alex was a very very good fighter with bags of potential, probably more than Ricky. I remember watching the fight and I knew Ricky would go all the way.. He has something Alex seemed to lack. I think Ricky has fulfilled his potential. Can he go further I hope so and time will tell.. I see this as a similar fight in stature to Calzaghe v Lacy if he can get through this one and a unification bout then he can maybe get the credit he deserves
I think when assessing Ricky's performance against Katsidis, it would be more appropriate to assess his performances before the loss rather than after.
Ricky has put a huge amount of effort to get where he is and he has a big heart, he deserves to be where he is. But I do agree he isn't the most skilful of fighters. Big test against Crawford
So do get credit he deserves he's to beat his 3rd mandatory in 4 fights and win unification fight, your a task master Dave lol But he will do it
Haha that's the life of a boxer. Only as good as your last fight. If Ricky was English we would have everyone saying he's amazing but because he's Scottish he's average total joke
