Like I said on another thread I saw Ricky at 16 weighing to box amateur at 10st 10lbs looking fit and strong. Imo he should have moved up from Super Feather earlier and Light Welter might be better for him. Like you said about Cleverly, if his body is too lean at the weight it affects your punching power too as well as making you feel lethargic and also affecting punch resistance. I really don't understand what happened to Ricky in regards to punching power because at 17/18 he was a wicked puncher and ko'd people all the time!! Actually I remember him ko'ing Paul Shepherd at 15/16 and Paul won a Bronze medal at the 1994 Commonwealth games!! I really think that Ricky might be one of those fighters that sacrifice some of their natural strength and punching power by consistently boiling down to a weight that takes it away. I haven't been involved that closely with Ricky over the years but I have always wondered what happened to the explosive Ricky once he turned professional!
Well according to the boys i train with that train with ricky out of camp day in day out say he walks around at 10st8sh mate id think they were better placed to say also on the punch power i remember as an amature seeing him face a boy in the scottish at the time capsule and knocking the lad out cold , my young brother was due to box ricky that year and fcucked the scales of which he was glad after seeing that haha
Certain guys just have your number mate and i think that the way with Ricky n mitchell , in sparring rickys supposedly been absolultley bashing kevin for fun
Jinny Ricky beats Kev everyday of the week and twice on Sunday mate, out it this was EH said they would never mert again coz the same result would happen and it would
Billy when are you going to realise that Ricky aint the same fighter anymore. If Burns and Mitchell met again it would be a lot closer then you think !!
Good move by Ricky to move up 5 ft 10 I have no idea how his body even made LW without shutting down hopefully we see a better Ricky in their next time.
Ricky Burns v Darren Hamilton to happen sometime next year and be the most boring fight in the history of british boxing
