Yeah, you got my point totally there mate. Whilst Mitchell v Burns would be a good fight which is a real 50/50 Burns should be aiming higher. That would involve staying where he is and proving beyond doubt he is the best at the weight by beating the likes of Fana, Uchiyama and Broner. To move up to a division with solid fighters is suicidal from a promoters point of view? What plans does Frank have for Burns? if any of grandeur?

I really rate UK fighters highly but Broner would kick Burn's ass and Burn's knows it . Burn's is ducking him .

IMO Brummylad, its going to be Burns vs Mitchell, in London as its a proper fight city & will bring a big crowd. Throw in Scottish world champion vs reborn Englishman kevin Mitchell who Frank saw as 'Londons answer to Ricky Hatton' not so long ago, & there you have it. Moneyspinning fight, & to the english it will be huge, as Ricky Burns is a good scalp nowadays!

To me as a scottish boxing fan though, if this goes ahead team Burns has sold him down the river.

I hate guessing the future, but this is annoying me so much that I cant help but post against my better judgement:twisted:

frank w&rren isn't promoting the scheduled broner november show.

no surprise he's offering an alternative.

he rarely ever lets his fighters on a rival promotion.

maybe if he'd promoted burns better he could have taken it to purse bids and won the promotion.

the w&rren of a few yrs back would have got this on in scotland.

the old man is losing his touch. :yep

i wouldnt have had any complaints if after the martinez or evensson fight if ricky moved up in weight but us fans had to sit through laryea then the cook debacle we finally see light at the end of the tunnel with a fight on hbo against a live fighter and within a week or 2 its off i understand that if rickys struggling with weight he has to move up but why leave it so long or even announce the broner fight when his team would clearly know he was struggling at the weight after the martinez fight frank had the chance to make ricky one of the biggest draws in britain but im afraid he wont be able to get those fans back with the **** poor fights he has given ricky

Thats what doesnt compute with me, Billy nelson was in the Daily Record last week gloating that the Broner fight was the biggest fight involving a scotsman since Buchanan & Watt(he forgot about the kid) & then THIS???

Its definitely my lowest point as a scottish boxing fan since Harrison pulled out of his last fight, & then went to jail. Damn I have to bite my tongue here, but bite it I will until the announcement.

I spent a few hours with Ricky and the camp today again and he was just back last night from sparring down the road and he had a furious 6 rounder with Appleby and it was truly as always.......full on.

Apps had already done his road work prior to this and held up well......very well.

Theres one thing that strikes me most in Nelsons gym, its the dedication to weight......even boys who are ticking over are constantly checking in daily....and i mean, before/after ....morning/night etc........they have to report back or text etc etc.

Am sure that aint an easy task when theres no forseeable goal but thats how it works in Nelsons........and in the trade of course.....or should.

Point is, Ricky is sitting and waiting and its not for me to say such n such but i can tell you this.....he wants everyone.......he does.

Ricky was saying, he can do Super Feather and be 100 % or he can move up and believes/knows he can be 100 % plus..............i say this as we were talking through rounds, apologies if i picked him up wrong.

Ricky Burns used to fight weekly at Light Welter as an amatuer if i remember right and you cant say he boils down.........his workrate shows this.

Ricky Burns isnt struggling with weight, in my opinion he/they want the optimal output.

On another note, listening to Burns, Apps and Barry Mo........all talking and raging about how they want that belt on the shelf.......it reminded me of a fighter/boxing related, i dont know who but there words were.............

If you fight for money, you aint getting no glory........if you fight for glory.......the money comes.

Though tbf, thats not true, a journeyman can make twice as much as a lonsdale belt holder over the year, for various reasons of course.

    Anyways :good

Apologies for just firing into the thread, been away as stated......i even got home via Aberdeen, muppet.

    Burns Vs Mitchell ?

Thats with the fullest of respect to Mitchell (I like him.....was saying this in the gym today........seems a real genuine guy)........i even called him to beat Murray......and was truly delighted for him, not my presumption.

if only it were that easy, everyone around, interestingly apart from burns himself appear intent on avoiding the fight and ****ing off up to lightweight, where the excuses for **** opponents will be he's getting used to the weight, then he'll either retire, or step up to someone like rios and get a kicking.

Dunky that not happening right away because if that was the case there no way any trainer with sense would have had his boxer sparring each other so close to them fighting . what will possibly happen is someone maybe inside top 25 like Gavin Rees or John Murray most likely Murray hence the sparring with MITCHEL asking for information on Murray but I think its a huge mistake for Burns and Scottish boxing as burns will end up being remembered for running away from Broner no matter the outcome Burns should fight Broner first then move up but if he fails to do this it will always he ran from his first real test

if and its a big if ricky can make the weight safely the broner fight is the only fight he should take
as its a career defining fight live on hbo a career high purse if he loses its against a good fighter and he can move upto lw with his head held high if he goes to lightweight without fighting broner most people will just think that his team have ducked broner

So why you bigging up the fight with Broner why not just come out clean and say Ricky isnt defending again he's moving up? instead of all the bull**** about going for the top guys and the next fight will be for the ring belt or whaever it's called.

He was saying it only 2 weeks ago on ringside? so alot has changed in a very short period of time..

Boxing bull****....im actually surprised people are surprised.
