He's just not very smart. He could even make 135 just purely by dropping his excess body fat, that's without even draining himself, he just has no idea about nutrition.

To top it all hes very friendly with kerry kayes. Kerrys part of team Gavin.
You would of thought Kerry would of seriously tried getting him to 140. Maybe he has maybe Frankie just isnt commited enough to Kerrys plans.
It does make a bit of a mockery when the old time guru of conditioning is on your team and your one of the worst conditioned boxers out there.

Look at Hatton's routine under him - Ricky was borderline ready for Mr Universe!

Abysmal training and nutrition plan. Liquid meals, hamstring curls etc.

Frankie just hasn't got it in him to "live the life". He performed amazingly at 140 as well.

 

Agreed. As a Welter, he always looks very soft and fleshy around the midriff.

If he can't be motivated enough to work hard, diet correctly and make 140 for a mooted 'World' title shot and a good payday at 140 against Burns, then that says a lot about Gavin and his ambitions. This is the frustrating thing, because he's obviously extremely talented, and an excellent judge of timing and distance.

That said, should this fight be made at 140 and Gavin diligently applies himself towards making the weight intelligently, I would expect him to beat Burns by wide UD.
