    Hard to disagree with any of that. Most fighters who choose to get into boxing do so because they don't want to end up like the shitbags from where they live.

    Definitely. And from my experience, the ones who are bullies or chavs who start boxing purely because they want to look hard, never end up sticking at it and making it far because you need much more than that to stick at boxing.

    Well I appreciate your sentiments on my debating skills, I don't like to jump at people and call them a **** for posting something I disagree with.

    Firstly I think you need to look at the fact that the vast majority of people from poorish backgrounds have to overcome a lot in order to become what is considered a success.

    Secondly, I think it's extremely unfair to call fighters lke Munroe, Booth and Hatton braindead. Hatton for instance is a successful promotor and business man. He is also fairly witty and played the british public perfectly in order to become an extremely popular fighter.

    In the case of Booth, Yes he was an alcoholic and would probably be in the gutter if it wasn't for boxing but he is an extreme example. Munroe may not come across as articulate or very bright in interviews but he's also very out his comfort zone.

    As for this list;

    ee Mccallister
    The Walsh Brothers(alot of them!)
    Chisora
    Kell Brook
    Billy Joe Saunders

    Lee Mccallister and Saunders are both gypsies. I'm guessing that without boxing they would just be living like any other travellers.

    Chisora is meant to be from a pretty posh upbringing so he may have had alot more opportunities than the other working class lads.

    Kell Brook - met him once, well I said well done to him and he seemed like a bit of a smug, cocky ****.

    I think people are a bit harsh on the Walsh brothers, they might come across as chavvy but that doesn't mean they're dangerous or would be criminals.

    I think you really need to just distinguish between people who have no other path in life e.g would become a junky or a gang member and people who would just become regular members of the community, working a 9 to 5 with a wife and kids and living for the weekend. I'm sure 95 per cent of boxers would fall within the last category.

    I think you're forgetting or ignorant to the fact that most pros have to work a full time job on top of there training before they get to championship level. Only the star amateurs like Gavin, Khan and Degale are fortunate enough to concentrate on boxing full time without having to worry about providing for themselves and their family. For instance Ricky Burns is a mechanic by trade and was a full time mechanic up until around the time of the alex Arthur fight. So From the age of sixteen til 22 he worked a regular 9 til five job. Wullie Limond is also a Joiner by trade and still does that to this day I believe, this is along side fighting the like of Amir Khan.

    These are just a couple of examples that I know of personally, almost all pros have something to fall back on.

    Well said Farnell I know you and Billy are good mates but what ****ing gets me is people slagging Billy off for no apparent reason we need more people like Billy in the game and less people like Gallagher trolling every five minutes biging up his own gym
