Thinking about this it is not out of the question. Say JMM gets beat and quite comfortably, JMM will probably want what he feels an easy touch sort of fight against a guy who is solid and who is the number one, which could easily be Ricky Burns. I don't think this is totally out of the question. By the way I am not saying Burns is an easy touch but am pretty sure he will be seen as this over the pond and could be ideal if Marquez gets beat and wants to ease himself back in after tonights fight.
it'd be great if it got made, i just dont think JMM is gonna want to fight burns imo, too high risk for too little reward, i think burns would beat demarco though, could that fight be made? dont think he gains much from beating mitchell, though might make a bit of money tbf

For all British boxing fans the fight has to be Mitchell, I think that is the fight most of the british boxing public wants to see IMO. I've always thought fighters should see off all credible opponents on their own shores before venturing over sea's. Just my opinion though ps, FAO Billy, nice to have mey you last night at Gorbals show, Brophy and Young Michael Roberts both boxed well! Seen Brophy twice now as a pro and in his 3rd fight he looked very good.
Only people on these shores who want to see this fight are Mitchell fans who eye a victory over Burns as redemption for Mitchells classic capitulation against the aussie. Any right minded fan though wants to see Burns against the best, Mitchell doesnt deserve this fight cos he beat up that hopeless hypejob John Murray. Sorry Im getting angry folks, but come ****in on. True Burns should step up again. I dont see a Marquez fight happening. Of course your arguement falls apart when he beats Martinez and his next 3 defences are, well I cant even remember their names. And if the Burns camp went for the Arthur defence then once again your arguement falls apart on not fighting Mitchell
I dont know if you are talking to me, but I will quote you anyway. So ricky had 3 defences in a year, & won at a canter. This is relevant WHY? He moved up & beat Katsidis against the odds. He wont be fighting Arthur as Alex is running scared, & who can blame him? The best win on his record will be a young Ricky Burns, in the future he can dine on that for ever. Thats why Alex took on a young Burns at the time, cos he said that Ricky was going to go on to be a great. True story. Im sick of the moaning about Burns not fihting the elite in every fight, cos its so ****in hypocritical! After what will happen to him tonight it would be a great time to get him. But Frank will make the Mitchell fight. It makes sense. So it will likely happen either early next year or in the summer months.

Im not chasing Arthur, Billy nelson aint chasing Arthur, it was Alex himself who came out in the press & ruled himself out of a rematch with the Rickster. Furthermore, if somehow Ricky & Alex fought? its a grudge match. Theres no needle with Burns & Mitchell.
Don't usually get involved but feel the need to reply Dunky, I am not going to defend my opinion dont know why you are so defensive about your position/opinion but thats your cross to bear. I have followed Ricky Burns's career since he was a lad with Rab at the barn and I honestly whole heartedly think he will go all the way and not just because he is Scottish. I was sitting about a metre away from him and his partner last night and he is the nicest guy anybody would ever meet. I am a boxing fan 1st and foremost I invest my own time into our sport I go to every show I can, I have no axe to grind or agenda if I did it would be face to face as I dont consider my self a windows warrior or tough guy and think I am well entitled to my opinion.
