Saying Burns has no chance at all against Broner after this performance is a little unfair.

I honestly think Burns and Co did not realize how good Gonzalez actually was and the early rounds took Burns by surprise.

You know what your getting with Broner and they would adapt accordingly .. not saying Burns would win but i doubt he would struggle as badly as he did tonight for 7 rounds.

Lol. Too many deep fried mars bars and/or wanking over Burns affected your vision?

Don't agree gonzales had his heart broken, burns hardly landed the whole fight. Think ricky's limitations were exposed a bit tonight...still a great fighter but reckon gonzales's style was all wrong for him saying that reckon his style would give most guys fits. Looks a very very good boxer, some of these guys are not too be underestimated.

All the same ricky will have took lots from tonights fight, all about adding experience as well as what he's already got. To go on and beat guys like broner etc you need fights like that, not that i think he would beat him, but it can't harm him having fights like that. No slight/shame on ricky as i think broner is going to be a special talent and in the end it's all about levels. Great heart shown by ricky and has got the w on the record. But think gonzalez injured his hand/wrist in there, not much you can do about it and don't think heart even comes into it. Look forward to seeing him again and surely ricky/hearn must give him the rematch, at least he knows what he's facing now. Ricky was rusty tonight which was to be expected with the lay-off and i think this guy was/will be quality. Got a feeling we'll be hearing more about him in the future.

Well done ricky on showing tremendous heart and getting the W.

Just read quickly through the thread Ishy and you just confirmed what I thought. Fantastic fight whatever the result. It was so cold out there and pretty empty we couldn;t even huddle together for warmth :D

Good nights fighting. Felt the stoppage in the burns gonzalez fight was a bit of an anti climax especially as it was kinda unexpected and thought the mcdonnel Ceja fight was a decent ish bout but a fairly comfortable win for the young mexican imo (we wonder why more fighters from across the pond dont venture to these shores with those results :? )

Agree with all of that apart from the ring rust - 7 and a bit months out is not a massive amount of time out of the ring at all, particularly when you've been training for fights pretty much the entire time.

I need to watch it back on TV, in the crowd, it looked like those big uppercuts and winding shots he threw were missing and that Ricky controlled the centre of the ring for most part.

In the 7th I thought Ricky wasn't getting out of round 8 but recovered well ... unless Jose had broke his wrist by that point!?!?

I was pissed off at Choi getting robbed though and all the ****s who were booing him.

Thanks Ice :good. Yeah, it looked really empty, didn't even seem to be a thousand in attendance (unless there were a few off camera).

First few rounds Ceja looked to be on a different level but he tired and Jamie got into it. Terrific contest. How did you have it from ringside then?

There were quite a few more than that there, maybe three thousand when the bars turned out, but it was ****ing freezing. Great, great fight, one of the best live fights Ive been to in a long time. Early doors I thought that Jamie was going to crumble but he hung on and came back. His movement won him the fight, Ceja wanted to set but McDonnell wouldn't let him later on. The 12th round was ****ing epic, I lost my voice...I had it exactly the same as you, great fight, horrible crowd

It will be a great watch back, I imagine it will seem like a completely different fight to the one you watched live.
