So did the tv ratings. It was the lowest Haymon presentation to date.To be fair,it is on a Saturday afternoon here in the US and who wants to stay home on a nice sunny day to watch a boxing show?Boxing is meant to be shown "after dark".
He "Lost" but the fix was clearly in the ref was blatantly biased and I have no idea what fight the judges were watching a case could easily be made for 114-112 for Fig or 113-113 but no way did Ricky only win 3-4 rounds.
I predicted that Ricky would be TKO'd in the last few rounds. Facts are that i was way wide of the mark, Ricky won more rounds than Fig, and even with the b*llsh*t deductions had still done enough to get a draw at the very least.
Burns was brilliant imo...not sure if it was fighting abroad being a huge underdog that helped him or the fact it was almost last chance saloon? he showed enough i thought to prove he can mix it at a high level... he will still cause a lot of domestic fighters nightmares if he keeps boxing like that
Burns did do well but he cant stay at 140 surely? And wont win a world title at lw again but can still be in some good fights
He tweeted after the fight that he's going back to LW so that seems to be the plan hopefully he can be successful down there.
i think he beats most lightweights around on that performance... I would only see him losing to Beltran... fights with Abril and Mitchell are 50/50's
If he can keep guys at length he would beat any lightweight i agree but it's if a guy is willing to take a few shots to smother Ricky he will suffer as IMO he doesn't have the best inside game.
I actually think he has underated bodyshots, should try to land more to the body imo. His performance on the weekend was even better, when you factor in that Figueroa came in overweight and would of had a big weight advantage in the ring.
One semi-decent performance against a lazy, unmotivated Figueroa and people think he will beat most LW's? Unreal. He stunk the joint out, held constantly and rabbit punched throughout. Was awful.
