Ricky burns v rocky martinez /march 2010

Hopefully Burns brings another world title home to Britain.

 

That's one more fight on these shores than Craig McEwan's had.

 

Sky text page 443 has added Gary Sykes v Ricky Burns on march 5th.
It's only been added today.Says for the british title at Huddersfield sports centre.

 

Jeez sad to see Burns lose before he gets a title crack.

 

Seems like a long long time ago when Ricky Burns was last in the ring it cant be good for the lad, Hope he wins although it will be very tough going into the the other mans backyard, I think Burns as always fort on home soil so lets see how he gets on....

Strange, but I never liked the idea of Ricky going over to Porto Rico to fight. Hopefully he will have no problem with Sykes and can go on to bigger things from there.

Has the chance gone for good or is it just postponed for a few months?

 

Burns won't stop Martinez and he is going to find it hard getting a decision over there.

Martinez though has the power to stop Ricky.

I don't see the big deal about fighting abroad.

Even if he loses, it will be a great experience, something he could learn from and use to further his career.

That said, I have my reservations about Burns as a 'world class' fighter. I like the lad and think he has done great to rebound from the loss to Johanneson, but let's not kid ourselves, he isn't worthy of such a high ranking from the WBO (I don't recognise it btw) - a rating in the lower end of the top 15 might be more accurate based upon the string of wins he has put together.

I've no idea who won the purse bids to be honest.... nor do I know who he (Sykes) is tied to promotionally.

For some reason I felt he was a VIP/Maloney fighter.....

Who do you think might be on the card, and who do you think are the best local prospects in, say West Yorkshire?

I liked the look of Tyrone Nurse when I saw him against Baz Carey but some **** matchmaking has held him back.
