Another Appleby round but I can see him losing the fight, without a knockdown or knockout. Laryea knows this as he does some bizarre, Augustus-like dancing early in the round. Appleby needs something big.
Laryea wins the 12th and, barring a robbery, the fight. I was probably a bit generous to Appleby earlier on, as it was a clear win for Laryea. Appleby just couldn't maintain the action for long enough periods and his defence was woeful.
Appleby: "I thought I'd done enough in my home town to win". "I thought I'd done enough". "He was awkward, he was putting his head in". He knew after the fight that he lost. His reaction after the fight was clear, so I don't know how he can say he thought he won.
Shameful score, i said to my dog just after the fight that i thought one judge may give it a draw or have Appleby nicking it.
Yeah, the first score was shocking. Burns getting a great reception, as you expect from Scottish fans.
The Hungarian judge who scored the fight in favour of Appleby is either a ****ing muppet or a cheat, I am not one for going on about close or difficult fights to score but this was not either of these, it's just blatantly wrong. I'm disappointed for and with Appleby, he just didn't seem like himself tonight, lacked everything I've seen from him but fair play to Laryea, who couldn't miss all night and performed well.
Evensen down in the first 10 seconds, though he wasn't hurt. 10-8 round to Burns. He has a huge size advantage here.
