That's the saddest thing. Gonzalez defeated himself more than anything.

    2 things:

    1. Burns is def not as good as i thought.

    2. Burns has more heart and fighting spirit than I thought.

they even each other out so I still like him just as much but don't expect him to beat the top dogs.

I know, but I think he would have stopped him, because Gonz was gassing completely, few good punches to the head and body, would have made it difficult for him to go to the final bell, Burns looked like he underestimated the guy for few rounds, lunging in - great fight, anti climax.

But how many other LW can hold those advantages jose had over Burns

He reaaly toiled, and it wasn't impressive.
Add to that I had £30 on a points win and a tenner on Ricky in 10-12 to cover my loss means I'm pretty pissed with Ricky's performance and Gonzales' glass heart.

I have been saying it's always a worry when Ricky is heavily favoured.I worried it would have a negative effect on him and it looks like it did.
He's far more comfortable when he's being dounted.

i must say i was shocked that gonzalez quit i had him way up as everyone else did they say he had an injury but come on its a world title fight you fight the pain they dont come around everyday ,,, safe to say anyone who ever thought burns could beat broner is now second guessing them selfs i really cant see burns holding on to that title very much longer

I know, it was obvious as soon as he went down to his knees, took a lot of his strength just to get back up.

He always seems to struggle when he's a big favourite mate.
I don't know why it still happens, but Ricky always performs better when he's not heavily fancied.

Burns underestimated nothing! He faced a fighter with much more talent thats all. Lucky for Burns that this fighter had not the stamina or the heart to compete at world level. Also lucky for Burns that this fighter never fought a decent opponent at world level before. Good decision not to fight Broner.

firstly this fight shows nothing that can be compared to broner, the guy was a big puncher, was similar height to burns and held a 3 inch reach advantage, fights nothing like broner - am not saying broner loses to burns, never have, but this fight doesnt really relate - Gonzalez was gassing, he had nothing left

Either way Gonzalez was getting beaten.

If he had fought on he would either have been stopped from exhaustion/ accumulation as Burns started to wear him down.

Or Burns would have won 10,11,12 and was in with a shout of getting a decision.

    1. Personally I didn't overrate Burns to start with.

    2. Same as you.

Did I say this? Burns faced a more talented fighter and we saw today that talent is not everything.
I think Gonzalez would have won easy with more experience at world level. This guy never fought at this level before. NOT EVEN NEAR this level.
