'I'd say that this is going to be the hardest fight of my career so far against a young hungry challenger who will be looking to take my title. 'Filipino fighters are as tough as they come, just look at (Manny) Pacquiao and Nonito Donnaire, like the Mexicans and Africans they come to have a fight and Ocampo will do just that. 'If he fights like those two, as people say he does, then I'll be in for a tough night. "

I've no problem with him taking on a fighter like this for a keep busy fight.
I do have a problem however, with a fighter like this getting a shot at the/a 'world title'.

Just make it a 10 rounder, non title bout, and quit the bull**** spin.
Boxing titles are a joke anyway, why does every ****ing fight have to be for a belt?

Has the makings of a great fight. He has the makings of Manny Pacquiao - he's a Filipino!

    Joke fight.

Lets face it, he is never gonna fight Broner.

How can a promoter have a pop at Froch in his newspaper column for his 'over-rated' CV and give his 'champion' this defence?

Ricky Bums is just a yes man.

There are several excellent posts on this thread so I won't bother singling any out,but as a fairly ardent Burns fan,I'm going to state for the record that this is a bull**** fight.
For the people asking about how long Ricky's signed to the fish for,Ricky will never leave Alex Morrison because Alex stuck by him when he wasn't really going anywhere, and Alex has a long and fairly prosperous relationship with the Fish,so I can't see us fans getting what we want here.
Maybe Billy will correct me but I'm certain Ricky won't be happy about this, but the dynamics of the relationship between Ricky and Alex means that Ricky will fight who he's told to fight, regardless of whether he's happy. And for those who want Ricky to stand up and tell them to **** off,you have to realise that Ricky just doesn't work that way.
The only comfort I can take from this is that I'm sure Ricky will be insisting that he gets a big fight in the spring, because this sort of talk on here will hurt him.
I'd ask that the venom gets directed at the right people, because Ricky won't be laughing at us all about this.Far from it.

The thing is, this is not the first time is it

Some of you need to wise up to the way wank farren does business

This is his M. O, Burns won't be fighting broner until wank is ready to cash the burns chips in.

This **** is cancer to British boxing, he's made jokes of so many promising fighters career, because he has no faith in any of them to beat the best

If the fight was this weekend I would cut FW some slack but the fight being just over 2 weeks away there is no excuse.

Nelson and the boys will be here telling you everyone Mr. Burns has fought have been world class, everyone at his current weight have been world class and everyone he will fight in the future, will be world class. Because Ricky Burns IS world class......

The deluded blind fanboys simply dont do the truth, it doesnt exist. And unfortunately for them, I and others are being proved right time and time again.

And some of you honestly think Broner and his team are gonna waste their breathe on Ricky "nobody" Burns anytime soon? I'd love the fight....but when I think about it clearly, it aint happening anytime soon (although Ricky's fanboys will say Broner is ducking the fight then  )

You must be joking, Ricky deserves his chance on his fighting ability alone, but boxing dont work like that. This is prizefighting, and when you analyze it like this, to Broner and his team, Ricky Burns has no name, and is at the back of the que.

Much bigger money fights out and about, Ricky Burns is at the downfall of his promotion and matchmaking!

Not necessarily Ricky's fault, but it aint getting him anywhere fighting fighters ranked so low. Nobody at the top is gonna look at Ricky twice fighting these nobodys. You are only at the level as the opponents you face, thats why I said, Ricky Burns is not world class.

    Can you see it now?

No wonder the fighters at the top of the mountain are looking down on Ricky, calling him a nobody calling him a bum......because whether the fanboys like it or not, this is what he is fighting at the weight guys.

From Walsh to Ocampo, can they drop any further down? Walsh was 59th in the world, and even that fight got plenty of stick!

Ocampo is 62nd in the world, according to Boxrec.

Typical W-arren: "Well the name sounds good" "O.C.A.M.P.O, it sounds exotic, it sounds like a name for a good boxer, hmmmm, against Ricky Burns? Burns vs. Ocampo? SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!" :deal

If Ricky has got any sense, he will refuse the fight, until W-arren gives him someone who will enhance Rickys resume.
