Ricky needs to start working that way. There was no loyalty shown to Ricky. There was an existing contract. Niether W*rren nor Morrison has any faith in Ricky. They got the fight with Martinez by accident. Ricky was being lined up as an easy eliminator for Kevin Mitchell before he moved up to Lightweight, and Ricky accidently became the WBO manadatory in a weak division. W*rren and Morrison only bid $60,000 for the fight and it ended up in Scotland because the Puerto Ricans ran out of money.
There is a thing called being too nice. And that nice guys get nowhere. It would be interesting to hear Billy's opinion on this, although, I don't expect much, what can they say? Even if they have something to say, they are probably worried to say it. Ricky is stagnating, and he is to nice of a lad to turn around to W-arren and say what for.....if he wants to be seen as a World Class fighter by all, he needs to put his foot down and start being awkward until he starts getting some world class fights. W-arren can make them, we jolly well know he can. But he has other fighters in his promotion who mean more, look at Clev, getting the silver spoon treatment, sent over to the US and that. What about your other fighters *****?
I agree with you until the stuff about Cleverly. He is being fed worse opponents and is being under developed far worse than Burns. W*rren sent him to the US becuase he couldnt even sell a ticket for a world title fight involving Cleverly in Wales.
At least Clev is getting a bit of recognition in the US. What is Ricky getting? Will fighting the likes of Mitchell, Moses, Walsh, Ocampo at Lightweight enhance that rep across the pond? Because whatever people say, this is the ultimate goal for Rick and his team, this is where he will have to end up fighting at, against the top level. Being made to fight these low ranked fighters and domestic fighers, isn't going to hurry that process up at all.
Lets get this straight. Moses and Mitchell were good defences. I dont see where people get in thinking they were not.
Katsidis is the best Ricky Burns has fought at Lightweight. How can I say Mitchell? The man is a domestic fighter, with all the tools, but no mental toughness. Just like Frankie Gavin. How can I say Mitchell? Mitchell got smashed by that same Katsidis, the same Katsidis Ricky beat, the same Katsidis who has been in the ring with some of the best. Not to take away from Burns finish, he finished it great. But Kevin Mitchell is not world class, and its not a fight that has enhanced Ricky Burns has it? YES, maybe shown his improvement as a fighter. But where has it got him, whats the next fight?
****, here come the Brit ESB anti jock mob again... This content is protected Oh & before any of you ****s from my neck of the woods reply to me, "but Dunk, Immmm scoooooottish & I agreeeee with the jock haters heeeere!!!!" Your ****in pussies for being allowed to get carried along like nodding sheep in this latest hatefest. Wake the **** up as to why Burns takes miles more stick than any other fighter round here. As for the fight itself? Its a KEEP BUSY fight before the biggie next year. Only reason ****s here are mock outraging is cos they want to see as hard as possible fights for Burns ALL the time, cos that means theres a better chance of him getting beat. Im not ****in daft you pricks. Sweary rant well & truly OVER. :finger5
When Burns fought Katsidas, Moses and Mitchell Espn had them all ranked among there top 10 lightweights and for me excluding Froch no one in Britian last 3 oppenents come close the top 10 guys in there division, but Ocampo is junk thats why it on in London beacsue Groves will sell the tickets rather than Glasgow where it would not sell
I'm not sure what people are complaining about. I've seen Ocampo fight on many occasions and people are in for a shock. He's very fast and extremely skilled. He has also been very unlucky indeed in each and every one of his defeats. I fully expect Ocampo to pull off the "shock" and dominate Burns, stopping him in 7. Please....:-(
