Everyone knows when a FW fighter steps up to Commonwealth level to defend his world title he deserves 4 or 5 easy fights afterwards. I don't know what all the fuss is about tbh.

Burns fought 3 top lifgtwieghts in Row according to Espn ranking at the time he fought them like world Champions do but he gets no credit, Ocampo is junk but he is a late replacement and the Burns fight will probably be the undercard of Groves - Johnson

Ocampo is not a creditable world title contender but give Burns some slack he has fought 3 top 10 guys in a row and if all is to be believed he fights Broner next why Jepordise this fight with a guy like Ji-Hoon Kim who lost as many as ocampo or Samuel Amoako

 

and when i questioned u.k were not producing solid fighters, people on here were saying that ricky burns will probably move up. haha, and then he'll get beat by elite opposition.

 

Because they weren't ranked top ten....oh wait... all 3 were ranked top ten when Burns fought them

you can say "Katsidis was shot"...well that's all very well and good, but tell me this, when Katsidis had his war with Graham Earl, Katsidis was unbeaten, and Earl had one loss..against who was that loss? Apart from all that Katsidis was RING top ten when Burns beat him

"Mitchell is domestic level" A domestic level fighter who had just knocked out the unbeaten European champion, Mitchell was RING top ten when Burns beat him

"Paulus Moses ain't all that" former champion with one defeat, Paulus Moses was RING ranked top ten when Burns beat him

the "shot to **** Katsidis" stuff really annoys me, because I remember how many people shat all over Burns before that fight, I remember the one sided poll before the fight, and the question was not wether Burns would win, but wether he would get past the first few rounds... and when Burns did what he would have done at any stage of his career, which I said he would,and beat Katsidis, all of a sudden Katsidis is shot. Even if he was, put the Katsidis that beat Earl in with Burns, and he loses, just like Earl did when he boxed Burns all those years ago.

Walsh and the Filipino are seperate arguments, and I have not defended either fight, but the FACT is that Ricky Burns fought, and beat, 3 top ten ranked fighters in a row, but that's not good enough to prove himself at top class, he should have fought some proper fighters, like Ji Hoon Kim...

Even if burns gets a doing off broner, no-one is going to think any less of him. I don't think there is a single burns fan who would get a shock if broner wins that fight. He has a chance, but a 50-50 shot at the very most. Everyone can see broner's quality, it'll be the hardest fight of either's career to date.
