Ricky Burns vs Kevin Mitchell = MISMATCH

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Spearmint Rhino, Feb 11, 2012.

  1. I didn't remember seeing that :think

I've been to the Echo three times and it's gone off at least once every time.

Smith vs DeGale was probably the funniest. Some poor bird got soaked in beer, her chap was gonna kick off until he thought better of starting on 30 pissed up Scousers.

When Smith got stopped a load of people started running from the seats into the foyer, no idea why.

At Clev vs Bellew it kicked off upstairs, again no idea why.

    I agree.

Burns will knock him out regardless but he'd have more chance of making an impression if he prepares in isolation away from all his cheek pecking gangster mates.

  3. It must be strictly an East End thing.

I can't say I've spent much time in London to be honest but I'd never seen that kind of carry on before.

Up here it's just a simple handshake, sometimes not even that, followed by a bit of pisstaking, as opposed to handshake, man hug and the peck on the cheek, and a convo whilst still holding the bloke's hand.

    :dead

Think I must have been quite lucky when I was at Upton Park for the Katsidis fight - I was on the lower tier of the Bobby Moore stands, but didn't see any ruckus in the crowd.

That said, the bar sold out of all drinks in about the first half an hour. Then everything else. They even sold out of wine gums, as if people had been trying to get their alcohol fix from a different avenue.

I was expecting things to get a bit nasty when Mitchell got stopped, but all the fans around us just grumbled and sidled out quietly.

If Burns / Mitchell goes ahead, I guess money will dictate where it happens, but it deserves to be in a big venue - up there as one of the best (if not the best) domestic fights that can be made at the moment, both classy boxers, think it could be a barnstormer.

Its not about that, it is simply that most people agree that both boxers will probably make more money if it was held in London, though personally I would not like it to be at Upton park for reasons I have already stated.

I actually think this will be a very competitive fight should it happen, and I think some of you gentleman should hang your heads in shame at the obvious baiting of Mr. Nelson.

Why, we'd all be the lesser off he he said bollocks to this rubbish and ceased to post.

Mr. Nelson. How much can you bench?
