Ricky Burns vs. Kevin Mitchell RBR

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by IntentionalButt, Sep 22, 2012.

  1. Burns needs to leave ****** to fulfill his potential.

He needs to be on world level, fighting other champions.

****** is just looking for him to fight often.

    The big fights will come?

    They need to come now.

Well I'll quite happily say I was wrong...expected points for Burns.

Also, out of the ring Burns seems like one of the nicest person you'll ever meet - top, top, man.

Good KO for Burns. Thought Mitchell was too wreckless though. He should have been more conservative because he had the better power and I thought his plan of going for a late KO was the right one. Too bad he got away from that.

Burns is good. The top guys in his division are Vasquez and broner. If I had to be honest I couldn't say with confidence that he's ready for these guys. I'd like to see him fight a Miguel Acosta or Linares type fighter before putting him in with either of those guys. Both are really good boxers with fast hands and good power. If he can handle those guys then he'll be truly ready for a guy like broner.

Acosta is shot and would prove nothing. Linares is good but what if Burns sparks him early? How much does that prove?

And and Broner needs to fight a real 135 pounder first to be a top guyin the division.

Vazquez, Burns and Demarco are the top guys. Broner is nothing more the a prospect.

And style wise I think Vazquez would be an easy fight for him.

Shame Mitchell couldn't pull off the upset, that was a great hook Burns hit him with, entertaining fight.

Burns is world class for sure. If Broner wants the title and recognition in the 135 division, he has to come to Glasgow to face Burns :deal

Burns is improving, I thought his gameplan was a bit risky given Mitchell can bang but the head-hunting approach worked a treat and after feeling him out in the first he took control.

Burns didn't throw too many of his trademark bodyshots which I was surprised at but credit to him and Billy for the perfect performance.

Fair play to Mitchell who was classy in defeat, hope he bounces back from this.

  13. Aye, he was really letting his hands go with big chopping overhand rights. He and Billy Nelson had obvious studied Mitchell's weakness.:deal
