Ricky Burns vs. Kevin Mitchell RBR

Different state (Connecticut). :yep But it's not that far. Still in New England.

He actually posted on Facebook the other day that he's now a top-ten ranked heavyweight in the world. I was like "WTF, by what org??? " and almost thought to look it up but it hardly even seemed worth the time.

Probably the WBF or some ****.

Round 1

Simmons is jabbing into Mehmed's guard. Hooks and uppercuts strung together as Simmons leans in and goes to work. Mehmed just shuffles around, high guard up, not moving backward much or getting touched cleanly but neither is he accomplishing anything. A few right hand slices to the body by Mehmed but Simmons steps lightly around him and jabs him int he head. Right hand counter by Simmons as Mehmed tries another swipe down low. Right cross to the top of the skull and a few hooks to the flabby gut by Simmons. Mehmed tries to slip a few jabs with his gloves up but is blinding himself to them and gets tickled by a few.

I think the co-features on BN will be rigged to start when they're supposed to no matter what. (so if it moves slow, they'll cut 6 rounders to 4 etc. - and if there are too many early stoppages, they'll just kill time with talking)

I think it's probably going to be 5:30 for the Burns vs. Mitchell main event no matter how the undercard goes.

 

Round 2

Simmons is jabbing Mehmed in the head while trotting in and out, pushing him away when he tries to hold and plugging the body. Single shots by Mehmed, just sweeping his gloves out, mostly to the body, and nearly all misses. Simmons is placing some big hooks around the gloves and threading the needle with his jab as he circles Mehmed.

20-18 Simmons

 

Round 3

Mehmed is shoveling uppercuts into the body of Simmons, but not fussing much over taking aim and throwing from too far away to compound his already shoddy hand speed. Simmons is working the jab into Mehmed's face while moving in and out on his toes, trying to increase the force of his blows on the front foot with each surge and then fluttering the jab on the way out. 1-2s over the top by Simmons, and body shots while turning Mehmed.

30-27 Simmons

 

Round 4

Mehmed is moving toward Simmons and rolling his jab out and slapping over the top with rights,, being easily dodged. Simmons presses against Mehmed, shoulder to shoulder, and works uppercuts to the body. Mehmed waits and blocks as Simmons puts in straight shots, then waving a slow hook out. Jabs by Simmons push Mehmed back. Wide looping rights by Mehmed, very slow and not coming close as Simmons steps back.

Power is his selling point.

He's got to figure out how to best put it to use, though.
