Ricky Burns vs miguel vasquez or antonio demarco

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by underachiever, Sep 22, 2012.

  1. So Burns now has 3 reasonably notable scalps , personally i,m not to excited by Burns I see him as a poor man maglianaggi but he keeps winning , i dont think he,d beat anyone really good though , I am not to familiar with vasquez or demarco ,but they arete the 1 and 2 in the ring rankings with Burns at 3 .
So they would be the next logical fights for wbo champ burns right ?

any americans slightly impressed with burns ? how do u rate him?:scaredas:

Vasquez would probably decision him, a better and slightly more rangy boxer with more pop, DeMarco probably walks through him and stops him after a few rounds of Burns outboxing him.

He'd beat DeMarco, but should avoid Vasquez.

He would beat Demarco but not too sure about Vasquez as a fighter. Don't recall seeing his fights either but here he's good. I like Burns but will wait and see what happens instead of hype him up. IMO he needs 2-3 good fights before Vasquez. Vasquez looks good in highlights but again I haven't seen him in fights so I don't know what to make of him.

Burns-Vazquez would be awkward as hell. Neither would want to fight the other, really, I wouldn't think.

As for DeMarco, I think Burns beats him in a raucous back and forth fight. He might pay a trip to the canvas in doing so though, Antonio has power. Burns is a better all-round fighter than DeMarco.

always said burns beats Demarco as he beat katsidis, beats vasquez, burns has a better defence.

Broner gives him a hard time - 50/50 fight. Linares will give burns trouble with his speed.

Most people share the same opinion as me,although as for Vasquez,my first thought would be Ricky losing. But if I've learned one thing following Ricky Burns,it's write him off at your peril.
I thought he would have a tough, tough night against Mitchell, and so did he.
I was actually thinking about a Demarco fight last night, and we got a word with Buncey after the fight, but he says don't be surprised if they announce a rematch with Mitchell even if it's not the next fight.
The bottom line seems to be that it's not worth Ricky's while to go to the States at this stage.Don't think there's any decent offers coming his way although hopefully that will change.

A Mitchell rematch would be a travesty.
No disrespect to Kevin, but he's not in the same league as Ricky, and it clearly showed last night.
Martinez,Katsidis and Mitchell were all shocked by how physically strong Ricky is,how tough his chin is,and most notably how hard he punche's.
Ricky win or lose would be a hard night for any lightweight, and given the fact that he seems to improve with every fight, what is he capable of in the future ?

A certain promoter should hang his head in shame if that happens mate. You know he'll do all he can to keep it in house.Won't be surprised if Rees is right in the mix.
Just watched the commentary there.Everyone was right. That Smith is ****ing dreadful.
    What fight was he watching?:huh

Your bang on the money mate,Fwank will try and spoon feed him a succession of dubiously ranked WBO nobodies.
As for Smith's commentary, the words clueless and contradiction should be put either side of his name.

Knowing Fwank we will see Burns vs Murray next, followed by a Scottish showdown with the ghost of Scott Harrison.
