Round 2

Huge 1-2 by Simmons coming forward, and Rasani gives him a grin and a nod to acknowledge having felt the power of the right cross. Rasani is moving back and spoiling, exposing the back of his head as he dives in and tries to grab low. Simmons is plodding after him and jabbing out of his high guard. Rasani flops off balance throwing a hook and tries to lean against Simmons but is left stumbling as Simmons slides his feet back. BIG clubbing right by Simmons. Rasani was hurt. He throws his arms around Simmons and holds on as long as he can. Simmons continues throwing overhand rights while backing Rasani up to the ropes, but the Zimbabwean journeyman has his wrists clasped around the back of his neck and is pulling him close to smother his offense. Lots of scrappy, sloppy infighting. Rasani gets in a hook while leaping out of the pocket. Hammering lefts and rights by Simmons wading back inside.

20-18 Simmons

 

Simmons has some good tools, but much is left to be desired. He's seemed a bit stymied at times by Rasani's spoiling, and has taken a few too man shots considering that Rasani is mostly being defensive and negative.

But then, he is only a novice. :conf

Round 3

Simmons is jogging along, throwing lead left hooks at times instead of jabs. Rasani is kept circling away, and is eating some shots. Simmons landing hooks and clubbing rights. Rasani is backed up to the ropes and wincing. Rasani tries to hold. Simmons pushes down on his arms and shoves him back toward the ropes. Short chopping right by Simmons. The ref doesn't like him leaning on and half strangling Rasani so he calls for a break. Rasani is holding on desperately. Simmons keeps applying the pressure behind the jab, patiently. Rasani tries to pull him close, grabbing behind the head with open gloves.
