Fair enough,but let's stick to the facts.Ricky struggled at SFW before he even fought Martinez.I've seen people give links to articles that say otherwise,but I've yet to see anything where there was actually negotiations for a venue and an agreed purse.
Let's just say for the sake of the argument a fight was on the table(which I don't believe it was) Broner is the HBO backed superstar-in-the-making.The fight could well be overseas as well.
Could anyone blame Ricky for not taking a fight against a potentially toughest ever opponent when he would be operating at 70% of his best in the best case scenario?
I wouldn't blame anyone for moving up at the right time,and if you know anything about Ricky,you'd know he'd love a fight with Broner and the advantages and bonuses that would bring.
There's a guy on this thread who said Ricky should fight someone his own size,yet the day before he was accusing him of being a chicken at SFW!:huh

You only need to see how big Ricky Burns is as a lightweight to see that he would clearly struggle to make superfeather weight.

 

Tough call. I think Burns' game has more dimensions, but Broner has a big edge in terms of athletic ability provided he trains properly. Burns could very easily outwork Broner, but Broner could just as easily break Burns down with counter right hands to the body and upstairs.

50/50 for me, at this point.

Burns was my favorite UK fighter til this weekend, you and the rest of the brittards are starting to make me wanna see him get KTFO'd. Me and Pity the Fool were some of the only vocal Burns fans on this board, then Burns destroys glass jawed Mitchell (like I predicted and like anyone that knows **** should have seen coming) and for some reason that's enough to get all the UK posters on a hypetrain? Jesus! Beating Martinez and a past it Katsidis are far more impressive than his Mitchell win. His win over Mitchell is even less impressive than Broners over Litzau who is a better/more proven fighter with an equally shitty chin.
