That wasn't the real Ricky sat mate

  2. A bad performance was overdue after a long period of impressive performances and it happens to the best.

Rickey has done very well for a lad from Coatbridge and amazed that people on here expect him to be the next Floyd Mayweather

Did he not say/mean Burns? I thought he was underlining how frustrated Ricky was getting.

I'd like abril or Vasquez or Gamboa's in that order

    Are you sure Billy?

Why fight those guys anyway especially Abril and Vasquez who have terrible styles to watch when Burns could make some good money in Scotland over the next 12 months fighting the likes of Gavin Rees, John Murray, John Molina, Mercito Gesta and Anthony Demarco who would all make for exciting fights.

Burns should beat all those guys handily and then a year from now he could fight in America on HBO for a big money showdown against someone like Terrance Crawford or Gamboa.

Burns shouldn't be aiming to hold the belt to ransom by going anywhere near Rees or John Murray.....I would be massively embarrassed for Ricky if he climbed into the ring to face either of those two

I agree and personally i would like to see him fight Vasquez, Abril, Gamboa and Terrance Crawford who i would rank as the Top 4 in the Lightweight division. I rank Burns at 5 but after seeing how he struggled with someone slick like Gonzalez do you think he'd do well against guys like Abril and Vasquez who are even slicker plus more experienced too? I hope Ricky demands one of the belt holders next as thats what the boxings fans want but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up fighting Gavin Rees in September.

Holding a belt should actually mean something, if you have it then you should be prepared to defend it against the best. Billy has the right idea but after some comments after saturdays fights I think that Rickys management are likely to go down the route that we fear, Rees, Walsh, Murray, it could happen :?.....There doesn't look to be much hope in the rankings either from a mando point of view

Its not a good fight Rob, its never been a good fight but I fear that we are going to see it, and it will sell north of the border without a doubt

Agreed. Thompson, Molina jr, Linares, Beltran, Shafikov, Bogere and Demarco would all make for exciting crowd pleasing fights for Burns and i personally would rather watch him fight one of those then Vasquez and Abril who are two of the worst fighters to watch in all of boxing.

Like many of us expected, ricky to milk his championship status in Scotland. Take on fighters where he is the big favourite. He sells a good number of tickets and will end up generating good revenue. I don't expect him to be in a unification fight anytime soon. Like Rob keeps saying the rees fight is a good one so eddie must have that in the pipeline. Rees doesn't have a chance in beating burns.

The point that I was trying to make is that he won't fight the vast majority of people on that list unless they are his mando, hence the mando comment...If its Thompson then its a better fight than Rees but I dont rate him, and isn;t he campaigning at SFW?

Thompson? Im sure that he would

It isn't Rob, its ****, it was **** before Saturday night and it hasn't improved since....sad thing is that we both know its going to happen, and it will sell out....Rees will pack the place out but stick him in with Liam Walsh, call it "Revenge For Scotty" and they'll be queuing round the block
