Ricky Burns

I like Ricky but it's basically about his last 2 fights.

He has been shown to be outboxed by a considered lesser opponent.

Yes he ended up beating Gonzalez but a smarter Gonzalez would have won quite handily IMO...saying that Ricky showed the heart of a champion to keep going and wear him down.

He was getting tagged all night by Beltran who also beat him quite handily (ok he had a broken jaw) and showed the courage / heart again to continue. But he should have lost that fight.

You are only as good as your last fight...Burns has proven he's made of the real stuff and can box, Martinez, Mitchell, Katsidis were all good wins unfortunately he does need to prove himself again as I think he has been found wanting in his last 2.

 

A nicer guy you will not meet.

However I hope he goes back to basics against TC instead of trying to put on a show as we do turn out in big numbers to watch him.

 

This is my feelings exactly, The fans like a knockout but we will also support a guy who's getting the W and in his last two fights Ricky has gotten a bit carried away after the Mitchell fight, Back to boxing and he will get back to what he can do.

 

Ricky burns coatbrigs finest. A would like to see him change things for this camp go away abroad somewhere week or 2 focus solely on boxing. Ano a lot of fighters do this and benefit from it. Wee change Billy what you think

 

Ricky doesn't need to change much IMO just a different approach than his last 2 fights get back behind the jab boxing at range work his way inside.

 

I heard that Ricky was using herbalife as meal replacements and stuff, For a world champion boxer i really hope this isnt the case His last 2 fights hes been using herbalife iv heard and looks whats happened, maybe billy can let us know a bit more,

 

Total nonsense, people will think that only because David Brophy his stable mate is a distributor for that company but its simply not true! He like his Scran to much

 

Every gets abuse mate, its the way things work on here! Look at Cleverly, he did what we all demand and fought the best. Gets abuse when he loses. Froch puts on one of the most gutsy performances you could hope to see in turning the Groves fight round. Now he's just labelled "a ****". As you point out, Burns doesnt deserve half the sh1t he gets on here. Thats why most boxers / trainers just think "f uck this" and leave (sure Billy N would agree with me on that. This is a forum so of course people want to express their annoyance / disappointment with things, but the way boxers go from being a warrior to a w4nke

Froch has fought the VERY BEST in his Division. Ricky hasn't, fact.

 

He will be fighting a guy up and coming in March who will be favourite over Ricky and when Ricky beats him he still won't get the credit Crawford will just be labelled a bum or hype job.

 

People who know boxing knopw that Crawford is a genuine contender. Its time for Ricky to shine.

 

People like to mention Rickys last two fights, yet nobody mentions how Paulus Moses has been on a good run since Ricky outclassed him, stopped Fana in 4 rounds

 

Or the fact that a so called "Shot Katsidis" had Marquez on his arse in that fight, Or the fact the Mitchell fight was a 50-50 fight.
