Who said that? Mayweather wanted to prove he was the best at Welterweight, Cotto actually offered Witter a fight.
Maybe its not a case of ducking but making fights the pay well. Mayweather VS Witter in the UK would be nuts but Mayweather wouldnt go over there to fight him and that fight wouldnt be a big seller in the states surely? Mayweather VS Cotta HAS to happen thats the fight people want to see now.
Witter was beating has beens and never wases, he was never on Hatton's level. I like the look of Bradley, we'll see how good he is in the future, hard to judge him against a gunshy, one dimensional Witter. I'd like Hatton to beat Bradley after he beats Lazcano and Paulie. Only if he can't get fights with Mayweather or Pac though.
You see this really is a silly post that pays little attention to the careers of either man. I bet you didn't know this - Prior to fighting Kostya, Ricky Hatton had not met one universally recognised top 10 fighter. Ben Tackie was the best of a very bad bunch and even he fell outside the top 10 at the time Hatton faced him. Witter, by stark contrast, was not shrouded in media attention and hyperbole and did it the old skool way by taking British, European, Commonwealth and then eventually World titles. Nobody did Witter any favours while he managed to achieve all this, he fought in front of small crowds, at small venues and for small money. Whilst in a completely unparallel universe Hatton was making millions defending his WBU against men like Aldo Rios and Denis Pederson. Say what you like about Witter, he’s fought some useful names, nothing amazing but certainly not as bad as the above poster is making out. He proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was worthy of a fight with Hatton and the Ring Magazine and practically the rest of the world agrees with me. Hatton’s legacy will be defined be three events, one good and two bad: - The victory over Kostya Tszyu - The utter annihilation at the hands of Floyd Mayweather - The ten year avoidance of Junior Witter.
