No it wasn't, it was Junior Witter. Hatton apologists can dress it up all they want, they can proclaim that Hatton would have beaten Witter inside out pillar to post, but that is pure speculation, the facts are that Hatton ducked the fight and we’ll never know. I have studied the career of Ricky Hatton from start to finish, he's a risk-adverse fighter, far more so than any other fighter out there. He only puts himself in contests where he has everything to gain and virtually nothing to lose. Witter was a bad stylistic match up for Hatton and he knew it, anyone who denies this needs to watch the Mayweather fight again. Obviously Witter is no Floyd Mayweather but he does share the same tools, fast hands with good mobility and fights very well on the counter.
Was always spectacularly obvious Witter struggles against pressure fighters, can't keep a high pace and is vulnerable to the body. What are the things that Hatton does well again?
I agree 100%, which is precisely what made this contest so appealing in the first place, because both men seemingly have the tools to beat the other. Sadly, we'll never know, because one of the two men ensured that the fight never happened.
Well, I would expect Hatton to reject a fight with Bradley upon the same grounds that he rejected a fight with Witter, he brings nothing to the table. Anything else would be contradictory.
