Wow didnt know that. Have even more respect for Ricky. Hopefully when his career is done he'll get the props he deserves for his work in an out the ring
I wouldn't bet on it. Too many people seem to only see the bad in Ricky. Ricky has said that he will meet Floyd halfway which I think is all your gonna get out of him in terms of taking it easier in between fights. Even that should help Ricky to be better prepared and aligned with his freshened up approach and training style which Floyd has brought in it will, I believe, make Ricky even better than he was against Paulie. He has won all but 1 of nearly 50 fights so 'being a fool' is obviously not as damaging as you think.
Ricky Hatton & Oscar De La Hoya in battle for trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr This content is protected By Frank Haynes RICKY HATTON has been warned he faces a bidding war to keep trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr for his next fight. The Manchester boxer, fresh from his weekend KO win over Paulie Malignaggi, is being lined up to take on Oscar de la Hoya in a £50million showdown on May 3 in Cardiff. But Mayweather, who pocketed just under £400,000 for preparing Hatton for the Malignaggi fight, says he is open to offers for his services. The flamboyant American said: "I'll train whoever pays me the most money. If I don't train one of them someone else will do it. "I don't know if it's the right fight for Ricky and I think Manny Pacquiao would be better. But it would definitely be a winnable fight for Ricky if I trained him. Ricky is a better fighter than Oscar but there's the issue of who is the bigger man in the ring. Ricky's learned a lot already but there is still so much more he can learn." Hatton's agreement with Mayweather is on a fight-by-fight basis and the light-welterweight king wants the American to train him for de la Hoya. However, Mayweather has a close relationship with Golden Boy, having worked with him in the past, and is keen to keep his options open. He is motivated by money and even offered to train de la Hoya to fight his own son - Floyd junior - for £1million last year. But the six-weight world champion turned him down because he didn't want to widen the rift between th feuding Mayweathers. The tension between Hatton and Mayweather over the Mancunian's boozing could also play into de la Hoya's hands and the Las Vegas-based trainer is annoyed he ignores his demands to stop. Hatton is hopeful Mayweather will stick with him because of the way they hit it off in training for the Malignaggi fight. He said: "Floyd chose me for this fight over Oscar and likesme as a person. He told me he needed to bond with me. "If the de la Hoya fight comes off he will chose me again. "Although Floyd and me may seem different, we're not too different in many respects. He's a character, he's got a great sense of humour, is a laugh a minute and is always playing jokes. "He's going to have to make the decision if we fight each other. I'm sure Oscar is going to want him as well."

i think his basically on the cambridge diet - i work with some lads who have lost over 8 stone on the C.D
That's what I found most foolish (which inspired the title of this thread). This idea that winning almost 50 fights means you don't make any changes. The difference is, only the last few of those 50 fights were at world level. You don't prepare for Oscar De La Hoya or Manny Pacquaio the same way you prepared for a bunch of Northern bums 10 years ago. It's not really the lifestyle itself which makes me say he's a fool , but rather this fake notion that since it "made him win" a lot of fights it will make him even more fights to come (even though his next few fights will all be at a higher level than any fight he's taken, except Mayweather/Tsyzu). EDIT: Just wanted to add that I rate Hatton as a fighter, and I like his style, so this isn't one of your ESB hate posts.
