Well i would say he was the biggest moneymaker but that is due to him having alot of uk fans many of whom ae not big boxing people. The uk follow their fighters and sports in general maybe the most out of all nations so even if your maybe not the best you can still cash in.
Still quite an achievement making the worlds best boxer come crawling back for a 50/50 split . Not bad for a boy from Hattersley no ? See the reds earlier mate ?
Sadly, still probably still DLH. But Hatton's drawing power is very good, especially at home. The acid test would be to have Hatton face some contender on PPV to see how he stacks against those who CAN draw in big groups of fans regardless of opponents. But he's well past that.
I agree in some respects but boxing is has to much focus on money sometimes, i agree the split should be 50/50 but thats only because of hattons pulling power, in reality pacman should get more but thats not how boxing works. I saw the game was abit worrying towards the end though, i thought we were going to spank them after the early goal but after rooney went of it was a much more even affair. That valencia looks a good player for wigan him against oshea wasn't a good match up for oshea, we need to get that fabio playing so when evra is out we are not terroised down the left.
PPV numbers in the UK are rather underestimated (especially for Hatton Fights) PBF Vs Hatton did bigger numbers in the UK (1.1 million i think) than it did in the US 850,000 (pretty good considering the fight was on at 5am at 40 USD a go!!! Sky Sports should be more vocal about the numbers!! Personally i dont find hatton that exciting but for the UK he has some amazing pulling power!
De La Hoya likely still is, regardless of him being slaughtered. It just sets him up for another big fight where he says, "I've given my body time to heal. I shouldn't have fought at 147lbs, so now I am back at 154lbs, a healthy weight for me. I feel better than I ever have, and I am sharper than ever in training. I am excited to be back in the ring to prove to my fans that I can still do it", etc., etc., etc., and on and on.
He is a likable guy and I don't think his fans leave. Hell, stepping up to the P4P #1 twice? Any one else ever do that? I mean with different guys of course.
What % of PPV money goes to the fighters and how much of it goes to Sky or HBO???Anybody have any idea???
I posted a thread with this information a few days ago that went largely ignored. Arum on the PPV stuff for the Pavlik/Cotto double header.
