Hattons father Ray told SKY Sports:

"Rickys exact words were, 'Dad, the fans made me, so I want whats best financially for them."

So Hatton fans, happy travelling back to Vegas again to see him beat that non punching nobody Paulie Malignaggi by UD:lol:

Come on Hatton huggers, even you cant be taken in by Rickys latest ticket selling charm offensive, can you???

It is a bit much I admit, I don't believe it. It's probably just his dad/promoter adding spin to the fight. Which is what promoters do; they promote the fight.

It is rather odd though that the fight was arranged for Las Vegas when everybody though it was near certainly to be Madison Square gardens. I've previosly read on here lots of comments saying why Las Vegas? Most Pauli's support is in NY, and he has fought over half his fights there.

At the end of the day though, Hattons not perfect; nobody thinks he is. Something like this said by his dad is hardly something worth going totally overboard about.

I much doubt what Ray Hatton says is the reason for the choice of LV venue, but I would like to have known why they chose Las Vegas over NY. Hatton in the past has stated he very much wanted to box at Madison sq'. Los Vegas did seem like an odd choice at the time.

    Oh yea...

Pac at Wembley stadium, London, England; in front of 100, 000 still to come if Hatton wins this one.

I sighed when I read that bollocks, but it's the same old routine with Hatton and his old man. The whole 'doing this and that for the fans' thing is cringeworthy.

AN ARTICLE FROM THE DAILY TELEGRAPH ON IT
As Joe Calzaghe prepares in the next week to announce that Madison Square Garden will provide the backdrop for his swansong in the ring against Roy Jones Jnr, Ricky Hatton has opted against fighting at the boxing mecca in November.
    This content is protected

Apple in his eye: Joe Calzaghe will see his career out in New York City Unbeaten Calzaghe will defend The Ring Magazine light-heavyweight title (175lbs) against Jones on September 20. A source close to the Welsh fighter confirmed to The Telegraph yesterday that "it is 99 per cent certain" that the venue will stage the super-fight.
It is fitting that Calzaghe, 36, the world's longest reigning world champion - holder of the WBO super middleweight title for just short of 11 years - who is undefeated in 45 contests, should end his career in the Garden, scene of some of boxing's greatest encounters.
The September 20 date, known for some time, had been open to Calzaghe and Jones since Floyd Mayweather Jnr announced his sudden retirement last month, with Home Box Office, the American cable giants, having already scheduled that night for Mayweather's second encounter with Oscar De La Hoya as a pay-per-view event.
Calzaghe had stated publicly that he wanted to box again in front of 50,000 fans at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff against Jones, yet HBO have insisted that their backing would only be given to a pay-per-view contest in the US.
The cable giants have never staged a pay-per-view event outside America - although that may change next year if Ricky Hatton meets Manny Pacquiao or DLH at Wembley Stadium.
Hatton, too, will head to the United States for his next contest, against Paulie Malignaggi, but to fight in Las Vegas on Nov 15 or 22. The Mancunian has decided against a New York bout in order to help cut the cost of a cross-Atlantic trip for his travelling fans.
Instead, Hatton will be on show at the MGM Grand Grand Arena, the site of his only career defeat - to Mayweather last December.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Hatton's father and promoter Ray said: "Although it would be great to top the bill at Madison Square Garden - even though he's only fought there once before - this is about the fans.
"His exact words were, 'Dad, the fans made me, so I want what's best financially for the fans. I want to make it more a price for them because it is near Christmas'. He's putting his weight behind Vegas because of the money the fans are going to save."

He is fighting in Vegas because it will pay better.

Ray Hatton has said exactly that in a previous interview.

Still, it's not worth everyone getting their panties in a bunch over it. But you will. Boring.

It will work out better financially for someone.......

The fans will no doubt save £50 on the cost of going, but the grub and beer will no doubt cost more and then there are the casinos - so a few will get what works out as a free trip and the rest will lose a fortune.

I am a big Hatton fan but not going to be taken in by this, at all.

    Agreed.

If he were doing it for the fans he'd fight Malignaggi in the UK. Or even fight someone half decent. Or do not charge hideous amounts of money for tickets.

The cost difference between NYC and Vegas is not that large. I actually think more fans were looking forward to going to NYC as a lot of them have not been there before so it would have been a new experience.

Personally, I have flown to America a number of times to see Hatton fight. I have decided not to do it anymore because he is started to bore me and when the make comments like these you just want to hit them.

I have a feeling that this fight will not be a sell out.

Lets hope Ricky gets more than 4,000 tickets allocated for this one. He complained like crazy last time out and then signs up for more of the same.

There are valid reasons to moan, petty in my opinion, but valid

However saying he's not fighting someone decent is a crock of ****

I doubt he has much say (if any) in the cost of tickets either

This kind of stuff is so easy to see through I wonder why Ray Hatton keeps saying it.

Seriously I travel to the states at least 6 times a year, flights to New York are in genereal at least £100 cheaper than Vegas, and there are more cheaper hotels in New York than Vegas.

I cannot beleive nobody has jumped on this. Theres no way Hatton said the words "dad the fans made me, lets do whats best for them"

Mallignaggi by TKO by the way, you heard it hear first.

You're right, Malignaggi is a world beater :p

Other than being American and losing to Cotto, Paulie has not really done anything in his career to be classed as an above average paper world champion. I admit he is a world champion, but to put this into perspective, so was Gavin Rees.

The only one who has ever benefited finicially from all of Hattons fights are:

    surprise surprise:

Hatton and his family: - Dad Ray, Mummy Hatton, Son Campbell, and he probaly throws his brother Matthew a few spare quid as well as there is no way he is making that much money out of his own boxing career.

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
    ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

The Hattons are secure for life - Ricky will retire at 32 years old with £50,000,000 in the bank.

Meanwhile the rest of you Hatton fights - keep struggling to pay the bills - try to keep up with your mortgage payments - and look forward to working when until you are 65 yrs old - so you can have a £100 pension a week.

Hatton will be on a crusie in the carribean - while you Hatton fan have a meeting with your debt solution manager.

Dont bother asking Ray Hatton to bail you out of debt - the millions are ONLY for him and his family - TO SECURE CAMPBELLS FUTURE WE NEED TO LOOK AFTER THESE MILLIONS.

    Ricky tells crap jokes.
    Eat fried breaksfats.
    Drinks booze.
    Pulls moonies at photographers.
    Fakes love to the fans.
Puts a PR spin on everything.
And is a greedy money lover.

Not the kind of guy I am mug enough to worship as some ind of hero.

**** you Ray Hatton you greedy money hungry man - you have no concern for the finances of others only the millions more you seek to grab

    exactly.
and who is the guy making out Malignanggi is good?
He built his name in a beatdown LOSS to a drained Cotto. Most thought he got a gift against the solid but far from great Ngoujou and he just looked a clown in his last one against limited N'dou and scraped home.

The Hattons remind me of the Bush administration...it's in their own best interests to keep the idiots as dumbed down as possible so they can keep taking the **** out of them.
and besides.....how come a trip to Vegas is cheaper than NYC....is that even true? Even that might be factually incorrect.
