In my opinion if he had boxed him even at 140 with a different ref he still wouldn’t have ever beaten Mayweather. He was getting caught clean early, even though he had a good first round. He was never going to beat him up at welter and I know it was a poor performance when he barely squeezed past Collazo, but that was his only other 147lbs fight and that could have gone either way. I do think he should have pushed for the fight to be at 140 though. They didn’t realise the power they had with the travelling support, it was incredible and generated so much money for the town on fight weekend.
