Paul Gascoigne was a genius with a massive mental flaw. Hatton is a Northern boy who likes a drink. I have not heard of Hatton getting in trouble whilst drinking, so like everyone else, he is entitled to go for a drink every now and again. Hatton is at an age where he should be capable of knowing when it is time to party and when it is time to train, and his World Junior Welterweight Championship, combined with his 44-1 record suggests he knows what he is doing.
Gazza was also easily influenced by others around him, look how that ginger twat Chris Evans and Danny Baker used to use him. I reckon Hatton is a bit more strong minded than Gazza and probably a whole lot smarter too.
You can't compare the two. Gazza's excessive drinking was also due to some form of mental illness he has. Ricky Hatton just loves a drink like any one of us but goes a bit too far with it as he's supposed to be a professional athlete.
He's holding and wrestling a lot more in fights, looking for breathers.I'd say its there to see now, fades down the stretch...
Gascoingne was a true legend, Hatton is one only in his own mind. Gazza was a genius with incredible talent and has always been a very likeable guy....I rememeber when he was at Lazio even the Roma hardcore absolutely loved the guy and that's probaly the only time that has ever been the case between those 2 clubs. Haton on the other hand is an egomaniac twat that likes nothing more than talking about himself and how humble he is between a few beers. Both have mental problems.
It's a massive leap to go from Ricky Hatton enjoying a night out before a training camp run by Floyd Sr, to Gazza being a lifelong alcoholic with mental problems. It's kind of a stupid assertion to be honest.
