they didnt all have tickets, english do it all the time for football games, they pile across the world without tickets in the hope that they can get some, or at least soak up the atmosphere, i went to portugal in 2004 without tickets for the Euro football tournament

The majority who were there didn't have a ticket. They went to watch in casinos just to say they were there. I actually thought it was 30,000 though, so maybe I'm wrong. A huge number considering there were so few tickets.

That was in his home country where he is a mega star. For hatton to bring over 50,000 fans for a fight is incredible especially when you consider the distance they had to travel and a week in Vegas cant be cheap.

Let me tell you something fellas there's this Filipino named Pacman who fights in Vegas pretty often. when this pacman dude fights in Vegas there's about 3000 guys who fly in from Hong Kong, Thailand, China,Korea, Japan come here and by into 7 figure poker games. And Manny consistantly draws that high roller crowd in Vegas!

    25,000 in town.

the guys' got a point. people travel to see Hatton fight. They clearly outnumber any fans 10:1 in Vegas.

They've got more money in their pockets than most nationalistic fans out there. that's a big part of it.

My point exactly! .... and if let's say they all bought the 17k tickets ... that's still 33k left out watching it elsewhere ....imagine going the other side of the world to watch a fight in a tv.. that's incredible .... that's beyond a dream fan base

 What an epic fail earlier in this post, but yea getting back OT. Hatton did have a great following. I took a little road trip to Vegas as well for the fight against Mayweather. Just hanging around the city during that time was an amazing experience. The outcome obviously sucked for me and for all the Hatton supporters, but the fight experience around the city for that week or so was just amazing.

That's true. The difference between that sort of attendance and 30-50,000 actually flying half way across the world, staying there for a week and coming back is huge.

A return flight to America will set you back £800 to start off with. A hotel for a week is at least another £500. Basic spending is another £100. Gambling would probably average out at another £500 or so. Beer another £700...

Just a huge amount of money. Nobody has ever done that in the history of the sport. Sure, you get enormous attendances but most of those seats are cheap. Compare that to the thousands upon thousands who went to see Hatton, without even having a ticket, and it doesn't compare.
