He didn't pick a journeyman or a bum to look spectacular . He came after a world class fighter, someone who was a champ until a few months ago. He gave his best after a long layoff, he came back at a division where he never belonged,he went down fighting. He showed the world he's one of the most beloved boxers among his fans.He got my respect, he came to fight and was ahead in my eyes. Nothing to be ashamed of, a true champ.
Course not. But it's a shame it happened the way it did. A warm up fight first and the Senchenko fight probably would have been a different story.
Just posted that in another thread. He looked pretty good for the first half. All the same, Ricky has everything to be proud of.
Senchenko is no bum but he isnt really good too begin with in the first place. Hatton has nothing to be ashame of but that ko lost shows he's done as a top fighter.
He does. While he was prime he was only beaten by the top two p4p fighters on the planet. And 'prime' against Pacquiao is debatable.
I hope he doesn't come back again and I hope he can go off and have a happy life, he will always be loved by us Brits and across the world, the atmosphere his fights created will never be forgotten.
He still did not bad considering, but it was clear the ring rust was there and he was no longer prime when he fought Manny nevermind after that layoff.
It's not debatable, he wasn't prime when he fought PAc, and he lost to Mayweather at 147 (he'd lose to him at 140 aswell though)
Hatton looked good in the start, but the wars, drugs, alcohol, and layoff all took too much of a toll. He had a great career and should be very proud of his accomplishments. 99.9% of boxers would love to have the career he had. Thanks for the memories, Ricky!
