Ricky tested himself again. He spent his career giving his fans what they wanted and testing himself. He deserves the love from his fans and at least respect from boxing fans in general.
Exactly. Like I mentioned in another thread, it's a damn shame he thinks he should retire considering the circumstances. The man took 3 years off in which he got dragged down into the world of drugs and gained about 70 pounds. Decides to come back, drops the 70 pounds, turns his lifestyle around AND goes after a live opponent in the division. A fight he was winning and would have gone if it went to the cards. If he would have taken a tune up kind of fighter he probably would have won and by KO too. I honestly would have loved to see what would have happened with Ricky if he took his time one step at a time. Take 2 tuneups and then step to a guy like Sechenko and so on. I truly believe he would have beat Sechenko and then Paulie. Ricky should be very proud of himself. The change of lifestyle and dropping 70 pounds are achievements by themselves. Not to mention having the balls to get back inside the ring and choose a worthy opponent. Love the hitman and love his spirit.
He had nothing to be ashamed of before the fight but he does now...pretty much destroyed his legacy and will be remembered as the depressed fighter who wanted to kill himself rather than the great and exciting fighter he once was
thats bull**** - and legacies dont get ruined if you've forged one to begin with hell, roy jones will be remembered as the best fighter of his era despite fighting on well past his expiry date - what happens after you've left your imprint doesn't affect the impact you've already made
Roy Jones didnt cry afterwards and didnt talk about killing himself....he just got up, got on with it and made no excuses...like a man...that is why he will be remembered as such
Totally agree...annoying neorotic drama queen..stay home....how much help can that be seeing that every time you look into the crowd
speaking of which, there's only one person crying on this board right now off you go, it's way past bedtime for bored virgins :hi:
Maybe true. I didn't think he looked that bad, just real rusty. He got caught with a body shot, that happens. He probably rushed himself into a tougher fight in hopes of getting a title shot. Think he should have taken an easier opponent and regained his confidence first. Oh well, he knows himself better then we do. If he's retiring again he should feel proud of what he's accomplished and leave it at that.
I'm not sure retirement is the best option for him now I think of it. Does anybody believe he will retire gracefully and live happily ever after? I'm not so sure. He might be better off just fighting a couple more times at domestic level to win some fights and keep himself busy and in shape. No one doubts he is past prime, but really he wasn't that bad. The difficulty would be avoiding taking tough fights. I doubt he could be the sort of person who wins a few easy fights, sees his ranking rise and then turns down the big offers he would no doubt get It's hard to see where he goes from here, but I'm not convinced retiring will do him much good given how it went last time
Ive never witnessed such a bad example of stupidly in all my life. What clowns were in hattons corner? he was 5 to zero up, all he had to do was coast along to a points win. he kept charging in and he got knocked out for it. what clown advised him do keep doing that? shocking display of professionalism
