Ricky was a great fighter, in his day... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5h6HUAzgOYE[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m21vSa6FAfw[/ame]
Had great footwork to shut off a ring, incredibly so. Very much underrated part of his artillery. It's all very well being able to body punch but if fighters can easily put you off balance or offset you by simple movement or other means that separates the very good swarmers from the decent to middling ones. My big problem with him technically was he didn't anticipate shots very well and mesh head/upper body movement into his transition from outside to in accordingly, which is pretty bad when his methodology in getting into his distance was ultra aggressive from a footwork point of view. Not so much that he sometimes neglected his jab to get inside, although again this was a factor. I was just disappointed with some aspects of his career, he could have had a better record than he ended up with but lets just say he managed not to fight one or two people that would have improved it.
He was a better boxer when he first started then he was when he ended career the first time as strange as that sounds. That first video was summed up in the last minute with the WBU years. Where he was made to waste time and lets be honest only a certain portion of this forum would recognize some of those fighters.
That stepover bodyshot was one in a million [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0JqGSUabdc[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rnfhTlGVdU[/ame]
That last clip Ricky is 19. Scary watching that how much work the likes of Ronnie Heffron who are coming through in this mould have to do. Incredibly polished at an early age.
can't wait for the comeback, The disrespect Hatton gets sickens me to my stomach Flatten this chump, then do maglinaggi, then crush khan!!!! War HATTON! I hope the Hatton band comes out of retirement too
Always had a good dig to the body and good stamina to keep coming forward in a fight. But his :asskiss :smh deluded fanboys will tell you he was the best thing going. :tired Clearly, he was just another average fighter when it was all said and done. At the very top he was exposed, badly, he was a level below. Fantastic fanbase, consisting mostly of pissed up Manc football fans, but a big fanbase none the less. ......and he ducked Junior Witter.
What you talking about, stopped reading? You didn't even start! You couldn't even start! Your a dyslexic. atsch
average fighter, give me a ****ing break. theres levels in boxing and world class isnt the top of the tree, ricky hatton was world class, so is garcia, ortiz, berto, froch, cotto ect. then theres the level above this, the elite, mayweather, pacquiao, ward. the guys that are untouchable at the moment. hatton still has the tools to get to world level.
I'm talking about ability, average ability. Give me reasons why he wasn't an average boxer? Or are you just gonna hit us all with how good his opponents were? :hey Come on :smh :asskiss fanboy......
