Ricky Hatton Is Not A Pressure Fighter !!!!

He's still going to be a sucker for every lead right hand or lead left hook that Mayweather throws. And Mayweather's legs and ring generalship are superior enough to not take as much punishment as one would think.

 

One thing I notice with Cotto though is that when he gets hit, he almost stands looking down, as if to say, that didnt do it, especially against shane I noticed it, will his defence be his downfall against Floyd? Who knows, but I wonder if Cotto fights at a high enough pace to really trouble Floyd, although I still think Cotto can take him....but Floyd surprises me everytime I see him fight...

hatton might not be a pressure fighter but he does come foward constantly and makes the fight , while cotto is a more technical fighter who will jab ect i don't know how well he would do vs floyd . the reason i say that is because shane mosley and floyd are totally 2 different fighters , shane will trade w/ a fighter and almost square up where floyd has become a master of making fighters miss or not land flush , i don't think floyd's speed would be the biggest factor for cotto , it would be his ability to make cotto miss . it would be a good fight but cotto would have to commit to using his jab and be ready to chase floyd for 12 rds

 

I see your point fred but to say Hatton is NOT a pressure fighter is off....really off. He may not be an INTELLIGENT pressure fighter but he only knows how to come forward, hold and throw punches on the inside.

Marg, Cotto and williams have more range to their method. Williams has the most depth IMO b/c he has a lot of boxing skills. Cotto is very methodical and composed, he some boxing skills that were showcased against Shane but he's not showing as many demensions as Williams. Between Marg and Cotto???? I think I'd lean slighty towards Cotto only b/c he's got a lot of momentum....before the win against Shane I felt Marg would beat Cotto.

I think DLH came really close to beating floyd b/c he did box very intelligent...i just don't think he had enough pressure. And in the end he was tiring. I think Floyd was able to secure the win just barely...a Draw wouldn't be too far off.

I think Williams and Marg have a better chance at beating Floyd than Cotto does and that's not to dog Cotto bc he's a great fighter.

Freddy, just because you think Cotto has a much better chance against Mayweather than Hatton doesn't mean that they don't have similar styles.

You know, Oscar De La Hoya and Raphael Marquez aren't EXACTLY the same either, but they are still both boxer-punchers.

Every fighter is at least a LITTLE bit different than every other fighter. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were both Rock and Roll, but that doesnt make them the same band.

Just because one pressure fighter lost, doesnt mean that every other one will. Cotto is a different kind of fighter, perhaps a better one, but Ricky is still a pressure fighter. He was on top of Floyd 90% of their fight for Gods sakes.

 

Fred knows boxing...no doubt about it. I don't agree that Ricky isn't a pressure fighter but I see why he says he's more of a Leaping slugger b/c Ricky doesn't set up his combination the way it's taught in "BoXING 101"

Every boxer knows that you set up your offense by working of the jab, to get in side, to set up a counter or to find out your range....Ricky really doesn't do any of that.

But he does put a lot of pressure on his opponents and always goes fwd. To me that still says he's a pressure fighter...he's just not intelligent about it which you'll need to beat Floyd.

 

Kostya also has more power than Floyd.

Hatton is a pressure fighter, his fights occur near the ropes, hardly ever in the center of the ring. Its pretty ****ing obvious what he is.

I agree with Freddy. Great pressure fighters work behind a jab to get inside, Hatton doesn't. Hatton is a one-dimensional swarmer.
