i know he does, but i meant his jab only....

    wlad kills people with it

williams kind of just toys with it....

but i wouldn't call paul a great jabber, wlad yes....

But he delivers ineffective pressure which is the TRUE theme of this thread.

Boxing is all about angles and the jab which is something Hatton didn't get or doesn't do.

That's very true...Paul uses that long jab as a range finder as well as a way to keep his opponents on the defensive. His jab wouldn't do damage but it helps him set up his combinations by distracting his opponets with numerous/quick little jabs.

All of a sudden it's ineffective just because it didn't bother Floyd?

while hatton isn't technical he still makes his opponents fight , so he does create pressure , it might be the same tactic every time but its still pressure

    i don't know freddy ,
you got guys who come foward and make the fight and guys who fight better counter punching , or fight under pressure . ricky is def one of those guys who comes foward and makes the fight , he's not the most technical but he's still a fighter who makes the fight , mayorga too he does't really use a jab or any real technique but he does make pressure

This is an excellent analysis of their respective styles and strengths. I also believe that Williams will have the best chance of defeating Floyd on points and Margo by KO/TKO and it's mainly because of their one dimensionality, great size and ability to absorb punches w/o getting discouraged.

In terms of absolute skills neither are as good a boxer as Cotto but both can take better shots and have better range and stamina. Cotto doesn't look good on paper at all but he manages to find ways to win against most opponents but unfortunately PBF is not most opponents. He showed he can box and counter punch effectively even when tired and slightly hurt against Mosley which impressed me to some extent but also showed weaknesses that PBF will not overlook if they were to ever match.

Floyd is a special fighter just by most of us mentioning that the way to beat him is to outweigh/outsize him and that is the only way it's ever going to happen. Hatton never really had a chance he's just too small both in mass and height and PBF showed he doesn't buckle under a bit of pressure.

Thanks Fat!! :good I actually thought Hatton would be able to carry the 147 weight better than floyd since he blows up to 180 in between fights but that was way off! 147 for Floyd right now 140 is a good weight for him as well but I think he has more power at 147.

I should have looked back to Hattons 1st fight at 147 where he didn't do that well....but I heard he was a bit sick and of course it was his 1st outing at the new weight. Overall Hatton just didn't have all the componets necessary to beat a Great boxer like Floyd.

You can't completely discredit Cotto's chances b/c he's a warrior and this is boxing...but using logic and each boxers strengths the edge is clearly in favor of the purest boxer in the sport today. Size, Pressure and intelligence in the ring will be the 3 components to over throw the King Pin at 147.

If you have a leaky defence expect to get punished by Floyd. And that's coming from a fan of both.
