Now, before you all shoot me down, please read through...

In my opinion, Ricky Hatton is probably one of the greatest fighters in history. For years he was THE man at 140 and at a time when the 140lb division was at his strongest ever.

He stepped up face the best guy at 147, Luis Collazo, and soundly beat him and would have beaten Floyd Mayweather if Joe Cortez hadn't been such an idiot throughout the fight.

I was looking at some of Hatton's fights recently (Tsyzu, Collazo, Castillo and Pederson) and I couldn't think of any other fighter in history who would have beaten all 4 so convincingly.

So, in my opinion, Ricky Hatto probably ranks number 4 in the all-time rankings behind Ali, Robinson, Gatti...

    Thoughts?

    I'm being serious...

Is my argument so difficult to disagree with hat you have to resort to insults?

Hatton was a good fighter but not quite at that elite level as shown against Mayweather and Pac.

Props to him for stepping up and giving it a go though.

Hatton was a very good fight, he was the man at 140. i certainly say he is better than the likes of cotto because he did achieve more than him. a sure hall of fame fighter. his mistake was leaving 140 to try and become the number 1, if he stayed at 140, who knows he may still be dominating it now

I can't tell if you are being serious or not??? Hatton is one of my modern favs and think that he gets bashed a little to harshly on these boards, but I can't see naming him top 4 of the past 10 years let alone ATG status. I hope you are joking or at the worst unknowledegable of the sport. Gatti at 3 is another lame attempt at atg status. I would personally rank Hatton ahead of Gatti but might get some debate on that one as well. I was pulling for Ricky in his 2 loses, but don't believe even if he won them he could attain your lofty ranking. I think the consensus seems to be that Hattons 2 loses have hurt him as badly as any boxer I can think of, and they were to the top p4p guy at the time in each case.

I like Hatton, but there is no justification for top 4 in his own weight let alone atg status! keep trying!!!!

I think during Hatton's 'reign' 140 division was pretty weak, he beat pas prime Tszyu, the only two real challenges (Cotto and Mayweather) moved up, Castillo was near Tszyu level. The only significant win over prime fighter is Malignaggi. If Hatton would beat Khan, Bradley or Marquez, next he might end up in pretty high rank, even cementing his top 200 ATG spot.
