Kostya but Hatton could close the gap in the next few years but I doubt he can catch him.

kostya tszyu hands down and it shouldn't even be close.

not only did kostya become unified champ, but he did it with authority. meaning he really kicked arse. some of the champs he beat he KO'ed visicously.

hatton's best wins are over an old kostya and flat looking malignaggi.

since hatton has been fighting top fighters he pretty much has become a john ruiz of the 140 pound division who also uses his head to block punches.

the fact is hatton as a lot of heart and fighters aggression, plus some natural physical abilties, but below par boxing skills, which is really needed to be a great. i mean, tyson was never a boxer, but he perfected the close up inside fighting game. hatton on the other hand just spoils, mauls and wrestles to tire opponents. not exactly all time great material in my opinion.

and as i thought would happen as soon as he faced a great boxer in his prime, he gets KO'ed easily. he looked like the amature he is boxing-wise. physically he's up there with the best, but skill-wise is just embarrassing himself.

so do you feel that a prime Tszyu would lose to a prime Hatton?

Hatton beat Carlos Maussa and unified, but was stripped. Then he beat Urango for the IBF title, but was stripped again. Malignaggi, who was IBF beltholder, was stripped before facing Hatton.

The fact is that Hatton should be the unified WBA/IBF champion.

  9. well if you really look at it - had tszyu not been stripped - hatton would have all the belts wouldnt he? or at least 3?

Tyszu is ahead of Hatton at the minute, Hatton could surpass him though in a few years, but he'd need to fight some big names to do so,
Id say a fight and victory against Judah, and then one of the big names from lightweight...JMM, Pacman or Nate Campbell would cement this.

Theres no one at light welterweight who is worthy at the minute for a fight with Hatton, so until then, he should pick fights with the lightweights, i know he will get stick because he is bigger, but there the only fair fights out there as he doesnt have any business fighting at welterweight as he would get murdered against the big dogs up there in my eyes.

Because Tszyu unified them...? That's a weird angle. Anyways... I'm goin with Tszyu for now, but Ricky is certainly on the right track to improve his record over Kostya's before too long. He'll need a couple more crushing, dominant victories over some of 140's better guys (a la Gonzales, Judah, Mitchell...). But we all know he's capable of that...

If Hatton beats Pacman, Holt and some other contender, he'll be near Zoo. If then he beats Witter, Judah...I think he can surpass Zoo.

Castillo was ranked highly by the ring at 140? If he was that is a ****ing joke. The castillo fight isnt that big of a win in terms of legacy for Hatton. Its a good name and probably got him some decent money, but anyone following boxing knew Castillo didnt have a chance, not at that point in his career and at 140.
