We know he doesn't rank high at Welterweight but Hatton is one of the greatest if not the greatest Jr Welterweight champions. Where would you rank him?

Well.. in my opinion not the the greatest by a long shot.. for starters Floyd alone in his time could of made Jr Welterweight.. unless your talking strictly belt holders..

    Hatton is arguably a Top10 at 140.

And he is arguably greater than Benitez -only at 140!-.

Here is my Top10 at 140:

    1. Julio Cesar Chavez
    2. Aaron Pryor
    3. Kostya Tszyu
    4. Antonio Cervantes
    5. Nicolino Locche
    6. Barney Ross
    7. Jack Kid Berg
    8. Ricky Hatton
    9. Eddie Perkins
    10.Tony Canzoneri
    11. Wilfredo Benitez
    12. Duillo Loi

    FACTS:

What did Hatton do at 140?

-He has been Champ since 2005.

-He has looked impressive in many fights with his agressive style.

-He has beaten: Ben Tackie, Michael Stewart, Kostya Tszyu, Carlos Maussa (who had beaten #2 Vivian Harris) and Jose Luis Castillo. Not a bad resume.

What did Benitez do at 140?

Not much more than Hatton. In fact, he did less.

    -He was Champ from 1976-1978.

-He looked great with his style and defense.

-He defeated: Antonio Cervantez, Emiliano Villa, Tony Petronelli and Ray Chavez Guerrero.

    140 Hatton > 140 Benitez

P4P, of course, no doubt Benitez is greater.

Let's wait until his career is over before we decide.

I think Hatton could push for the Top 5, best ever 140 lbs fighter of all time, by the end of his career. I think his aim should be to unify the division starting it off by beating Witter and Paulie.

He can be greater than Locche (therefore Top5) if he's Champ for a couple more years and defends the title 3 more times. But I don't think he'll ever be greater than Chavez, Pryor, Tszyu or Cervantez. That would be impossible. They are at another level.

He should fight Malignaggi, Witter, Torres, etc.

Defeating Tszyu, Castillo and the guy that beat Vivian Harris was a good start.

If he beats Witter and Paulie he makes a case for top 5.

Well if he is smart he should try and go back down and clear out the division. A few belts would be great, and easily within his grasp. There are some big fightsd already there for him such as Witter and Malignaggi, and there are some good prospects too, he still has a great career ahead of him at 140 pounds.

Head to head I think he loses to everyone there, and also to the following fighters who had a few meaningful fights at 140:

    Benny Leonard
    Henry Armstrong
    Pernell Whitaker
    Jose Napoles
    Ike Williams
    Carlos Ortiz
    Oscar de la Hoya
    Packey McFarland
    Meldrick Taylor
    Buddy McGirt
    Jack Britton
    Sammy Angott
    and others

I may be wrong but wasn't the 140 division WAY after the time of Leonard, Armstrong etc?

No. It exists since the 1920s.
