Magic man is a pretty nifty fighter now. The embarrassment of losing to him on his big comeback would be too much of a risk. I think Hatton has to make this comeback for financial reasons and to kickstart Hatton promotions up a gear.

  3. I'm not buying this **** at all. Malignaggi is fighting Pablo Cesar Cano on October 20th, just signed and made official on the Garcia vs. Morales card.... He's not fighting Hatton a couple weeks later.

I'll believe Hatton is actually coming back when a reputable source comes out with it. Rumors are rumors.

It's true I've never been overly fond of Ricky (for his style) - but it could be my best and dearest friend in the world, and if they were doing something that contravened their best interests with a happy-go-lucky delusion about it, I'd tell them "You great big dumb ******, snap out of it now!!"

I'm not a fan of Hatton but also have no desire to see the man take more punishment. Some of his "fans" are the ones herding him toward danger with their sadistic encouragement.

John Murray the lightweight? Good post you thick ****

  7. IB, I can't agree with this. A fan of Boxing is a fan of Hatton. His style is/was always exciting and fan friendly, and the guy only lost (ok, officially) to p4p #1 guys who beat everybody. He'll never be a p4p goat world beater but he'll have no problem entertaining fans against the right opponents. Let the guy make a comeback if he feels he can! :tong

He will be Canelo Alvarez's next opponent whilst Erislandy Lara fights in a final final final final eliminator against some regurgitated journeyman

It remains to be seen what this comeback will ammount to. I think the divisions that he will fight in are a bit soft being that Money Mayweather and Pac-man are on their ways to doing new professions. After all Big George Foreman had a meaningful comeback, perhaps Hatton will.

I don't know, it's not like he's roy jones or holyfield in there. If he loses, he ****ing loses. He knows better than any of us because he was the one getting knocked out. He lived it, you watched it on tv.

Should lennox have retired after getting ko'd by Rahman brutally, after getting ko'd by mccall previously? Was he insane for continuing his career? At least Ricky lost to the best and not some journeymen. Losing is part of boxing. Maybe it seems ill advised to you. But maybe he has a ton of bills piling up and the promotion company isn't paying off like he thought it might. Maybe he owes 40k to a blow dealer. We can't pretend to know this **** better than he does.

And it is still funny thinking back to how many Brittards thought Hatton had a chance to beat Floyd. :rofl:rofl

Paulie avenges his lost to Ricky if they fight again.

I don't think the Pacquaio loss hurts his resume more than any other loss would. He was the underdog, and he lost the fight by being too aggressive and got ko'd. It's not like he was running scared like Spinks vs Tyson or pulled a Clottey and turtled up for 12 rounds. We all knew Hatton wasn't gonna come out shoulder rolling and jab Manny to death.

He knew he was the underdog cause Pac was the better fighter, even if he underestimated his power. Hatton only knows how to fight one way. Even though the odds were against him he said, "what the hell, i'll give it a shot", and he got the expected results. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't even think it shows a bad chin. He got hit with a monster shot and ate quite a few hard shots in those two short rounds to set it up. It shows bad defense, but not a bad chin. I think that shot would have dropped most 140lbers if it landed.

Lastly he doesn't have to worry about ruining his legacy, cause in a historical sense he doesn't have one. He won't be talked about much 30 years from now. He was merely a good fighter that won often, but came up short on the big ones.

There should be no health concerns because he got KTFO. It happens in boxing. Frazier got destroyed by Foreman twice, Lennox got leveled, duran got sparked by hearns. The real danger is when you take a serious ass kicking for 12 rounds straight, but the guy can't finish you. Something like if Mcgirt didn't pull Gatti out vs Floyd.

I like Hatton as a fighter but i'm not delusional. Hatton won't be winning any titles, he's not coming back and beating Manny, and he might get his ass kicked. If he wants to try, then why shouldn't he? People are acting like it's Winky Wright coming back vs Chavez Jr or something. It's obvious he has the desire to return. It doesn't seem like he's the type to not come back cause he's afraid of getting a little dirt on his resume.

He should have an easy fight to begin with, if he doesnt look good he can retire, if it looks like hes still got it then he can go for Malignaggi.
DeMarcus Corley would be a decent enough first warm up, someone on that level and someone thats not too big for him.
