How about you guys just take your hat off to Hatton for fighting the likes of Floyd and Manny. There was always a chance he was going to get a whipping, and he did. Look at what Manny did to Oscar in his last fight. Oscar said he was ashamed to leave the house for weeks. Hatton could have easily retired unbeaten 45-0 had he wished - he chose to step in the ring with prime versions of two of the greatest fighters ever to lace them up instead.

I wonder if Betty will be retiring along with Hatton.

Did he also force him to amek 15 defences of the WBU? You should know better than that. And you seem to have conviently (as usual) forgotten the dross inbetween.

If those fights were fought without the WBU sanctioning them then you wouldn't be saying this. You'd just be saying he took a long time to step up in class but when he did, he proved he belonged. You are using the WBU point to hate. Simple as.

Who the **** cares if those fights were for the WBU title? Most people judge Hatton as having won a world title when he beat Zoo, he then made 5 defences and those fights for the WBU belt were just fights on the way up to his title shot.

I DONT CARE ABOUT MOOT PREAMBLE AND CONJECTURE. I observe the FACTS for what they are. I dont care about IF BUT or MAYBE. HATTON fought for the WBU did he not? He did so numerous times. Rather than go the tradtional route he made millions at the M.E.N beating up roadsweepers. I presume that was ample preparation for the PBF's and PacMan's of this world?

Furthermoe I have never insinuated the boy wasnt world class. This he certainly was. But when measured against the best fighters in and around his weight class he fails miserably. You dont make a career out of fringe titlists and then try and fight the best guys in your weight division. That kind of maths does not add up.

You should have rang the BBC before the fight then as well as SKY. Both had him down as a 6 time world champ and counted the IBO and WBU. Hatton was more than happy to count the WBU as a world title belt. You do the maths Gazoc. I mean for ****s sake the WBU doesnt even have a ranking system. There an organisation based in a cottage in Norwich with ZERO credibility but you can glibly gloss over that fact because Haton annexed a few world titles against a bunch of guys no one had heard of to date?

WTF is this new obsession you have with doing maths?:patsch Who gives a monkies about how the Beeb or Sky choose to promote a fight/ boxer?

You can completely forget about Hattons career before Zoo, what he did in that fight and afterwards is still a very good boxing career by most reasonable peoples standards.

But those ifs, ands, or buts could have made all the difference to his legacy. If he had not fought Floyd in 2007 (damn, if only Floyd had been over 40 instead of prime!) and had fought the 35 year old Witter in 2009 (instead of Pac) and been allowed to maul and wrestle and squeak out a hometown decision (of course Witter is also to blame for getting whupped by Bradley in 2008, but I digress) he would have been 47-0 and could have retired as an ATG. :D

edit: Oops .. should have written MAYBE could have retired as an ATG.:yep

Yes of course. I can see the clairty now. Sell a fight on the basis of a LIE and the fans will buy it. So lets all coun the WBU and IBO as world titles folks because Gazoc says so.

Furthermore learn to read. Iv never once insinuated that Hatton never made a decent career for himself in this sport. The facts remain he built a foundation on sand and had muppets like you eating out of his hand. So no i will NOT forget because i know the truth and the truth will out as long as a post on this dam board!

 So when I say "Ignore the WBU, Hatton won the title beating Zoo" that means I really count the WBU as title defences as valid? Are you just making this stuff up as you go along??:patsch

The WBU is a joke, no one claims otherwise, so why bang on about a series of fights that were fought under the banner of an irrelevant organisation? They were pre title fights that ended at the start of 2005 and Hatton probably wasn't ready for Zoo much before the middle of 2004 in any case.
